Last night while my car sat in the driveway, my factory alarm was set off for no reason. I cant figure out why it went off. I know it doesnt have a shock sensor, and none of the doors were open. Has anyone had this happen? Any ideas?

From what I hear there are switches on the doors, trunk and hood. Either someone pulled a handle and kept on going (kids) or you have a switch that is faulty.

You most likely accidently pressed the PANIC button on the remote. If you didn't, the only way to set off the "alarm" is to open the hood, doors, or trunk withOUT the key or key fob. There are no shock sensors.

I'm not sure how the Maxima "alarm" works, but some alarms are triggered by sensing a current drop, via a light coming on in the car.

It couldnt have been the panic button because my keys were laying on the counter. Oh well, I guess I wont worry about it unless it continues to happen.

The only way to set off the alarm is if one of the doors is unlocked without the key or remote. Opening the trunk or hood will also set off the alarm.

If there were no signs of intrusion, you most probably hit the panic button.

Some alarms can sense randomly generated codes sent by a car thief, my clifford on my old max would do this. I'm uncertain if the technology is present in our current factory alarms.
