An e-mail from Cattman
I got an e-mail from Cattman & he didn't recommend the Koni/Tokico + springs combo ... I cut & paste a section from his e-mail 2 me ...
"I'll note that these are unique in the world in the sense that it is the only complete coilover suspension available for the car. There's a company or two that has thrown together some hardware for the Maxima, but with only
the perches and springs, there's no strut solution available in terms of externally adjustable struts that can be purchased and installed from off the shelf -- don't exist, and using stock or cheap Tockicos with 400lb
linear rate coilover springs is a recipe for disaster. Even the Konis -- hard to obtain and not a good coilover solution -- are not externally adjustable in the rear because they have to be taken apart for readjustment. I discovered that one of the KYB AGX applications will cross
over very effectively to the maxima, but we have to strip off and rebuild the mounts to make it work. That's the only solution short of going to $300-400/corner custom struts, and it works real well.
I'll mention that the picture is obsolete in the sense that the camber plates and the interface between the camber plates and the spring hat on the front struts, as well some aspects of the rear, are currently under major redesign. Nothing wrong with the old design, but its a racing system
and some drivers wanted something a little more refined on the street end, so we're making some big changes, most notably, putting the new camber plates above the strut tower instead of under/inside of it, providing almost an additional inch of strut travel, and better camber adjustability. The new system should be available within the next 4-6 weeks. Price will likely be around $1600-1700. More refined, as I say, but every bit as competitive. Several customers are racing with these very
successfully and you will not believe the potential the car has with these and a decent set or tires and wheels."

No idea on a group deal for Tokico or Koni.
Wasn't sure either had an application for the gen5 Maxima, but I haven't checked lately.
Cattman coilovers, as far as I can tell, are worth every penny (and heck some of mine as well, even though I was only a passenger). I've ridden with Barry Chafin (caNISMO) several times in auto-x with Cattman coilovers and they are SWEET. Ground Control coilovers/Koni sports do not compare to the Cattman units. Also for $1600 you do get camber plates, which run $300 or so otherwise from Stillen. Probably still not worth the extra money unless you're going to go racing though.
Another option is to have another shop such as Truechoice, Shoktek, GAB, Progress, or KYB develop something. Truchoice, Shoktek, and Progress can do full coilover sets, IIRC... $1900 for Truechoice full race, stage IV ($1600 for stage III, which is similar to Cattman, IIRC)...

Hogan,
You going to be in on Saturday? You can have a look first hand (at the current setup, not the new one) and check something out at the same time.
BTW, I can't find an ECU either. I might have one on the island but.....
Let me know!
