After some heavy traffic (i.e. granny drivers) on my way home I get to my favorite stretch of open two lane highway (never any cops). I spot a black sportscar flying up behind me. It was going to pass me until the galant in front of me changed lanes and boxed him in. I got a look at one hell of a late model RX-7 (it really was awsome). Already doing 75 the only thing keeping this race was me (and, to a greater extent, the a$$ in the Galant). So I FLOOR it, and rocket with a two car lead at the beginning of a two mile race. He quickly closes the gap to a one car lead at 95 by now (this guy is fast). At 110 he's crawling at my bumper (real fast). At 125 he's inching past my door (I mean FAST). We're running out of road. All I had to do was hold him until the Skyway at the end. He was the Headless Horseman and I was Ichebod Crane making a mad dash for the bridge to bring down the monster. At 132 he was at a few inches from my front and still accellerating, but by then it was all over...

In the distance we could see the traffic merging into the Skyway. Now it was a matter of who would brake first. He ate it.

I beat an RX-7!!!!! AHHH HAHAHAHAHAH!!!

Somehow I think he was holding back, probably scared of the speed. I think the RX-7 should have wiped the floor with me.

Oh well, it's a kill and a speed record for me on that strip of road. What a race!!!

 

Good kill!! Man I love those RX-7s. Once in a blue moon I see one. I was at Englishtown one day during Import Survival Series, and a blue one was racing (a quick bracket, like around 8 or 9 sec cars). He was about 2/3 of the way down the track, going over 100 mph, and then the back tires break loose, and the back fishtails. I thought this guy was going to lose control and flip over, but he held on. Then he started leaking fluids, and they closed the track fro about 15 mins. It was cool!

 

if it was an older rx7 i will believe u but if u r sayin one of the 3rd gen twin turbos the guy didnt know how to drive.... those run like 13.7 stock! exhuast gives mad hp to those cars! just imagine a new turbo!

 

What are the specs of your car? I assume 5spd? If it was a totally stock touring r-x7 I think the story is belieable. We aren't talking 1/4 times this is a race on a roll so those numbers don't mean that much. And your also right the guy didn't have the *****. Bottomline his car was faster but for what to lose a distance race to a Maxima? Your guys were just having some fun...

 

i know but im just sayin the older ones i believe but the newer ones highly doubt it ! the older ones r quick too..... i saw an exhaust get for the 1st gen rx7 that gave it a 57 hp gain which in my eyes is rediculous....... i want exhaust like that for our cars along with a turbo set up!

 

It was a newer contoured one not the old boxy one, the FD model I believe (otherwise I wouldn't have called it awesome). But it was faster than a Max running near top speed. It would have beat me if we had more road.

BTW what is the top speed of an RX-7?

 

 

Nevermind, I found out. Last model in production had 255hp and top speed was advertised as 153. Tested to be 145.

 

Since when does someone catching you from 2 cars behind considered a Kill? What are your mods? I mean its good you kind of stayed with him, but if he would have started directly next to you, you would have lost. So not to rain on the party but I would not call this a kill.
