I'd like to use mine to charge my phone on occasion when I'm not in the car and don't have my stand alone charger.

i really really highly do not recomend you do that..
but here's how to do it..
you'll need the following:
test light,
5ft of wire.
male wire connector
butt connector
crimper
wire stripper
slotted screwdriver/panel puller
phillips screw driver.

firt you want to use the test light with your fuse box conveniently located under your dash, bottom left of the steering wheel. you want to test each empty slot.. test with the key oout of the ignition and see which one lights up.. that would be known as your "memory, or 12volt constant power supply" thats the one you want.. keep the test light in and turn the key. if the light remains on (which it should in most cases) then that's the slot you wan to tap in..

next you want to remove your center console.. in order to do this you'll need to remove your ashtray trim peice, there is one screw there, remove the ashtray itself and it'll reveal a screw.. remove that. then pop the trim peice off with a panel puller or a slotted screw driver wrapped in cloth to prevent scratching the trim peice. next you want to remove 9 screws from teh sides of the center console.. or is it 7??? if it's 8 then the first two are where the trim peice for the ashtray went. the next two are located on the middle side of teh center console, you mmight need to roll both seat backwards for easier access. next screw is inside the center console, lift up the arm rest, and remove all contents inside the compartment, lift up the rubber peice and it should reveal a screw, remove that. next four screws are on the sides of the rear cup holder. you may want to move the seats forward for easier access.

pull up the hand brake to full sollute, pull the two trim peices off the center console that go from the center dash down, where you're feet usually is.. pull the center console straight up from the front first, disconnect all wires neccary. remove teh sucker completely.

you'll then see the plug that once went into the cigaret lighter/12v outlet. you want to cut the positive lead, and use a butt connector on the end that goes into the car (not the end that goes into the outlet) then tape it off. you don't ever want that to touch metal. run the new wire from the fuse box to the cigaret lighter, strip both ends of the wires. use a butt connector on it, then tape it up to ensure safety.

back to the fuse box. you'll need to trim away the plastic shielding from the male wire connector, the one that looks like a slot.. then trim the metal prong down to size so it fits snuggly inot the slot..put the connector on the end of the wire now attached to the cigarette lighter plug.. then put everything back together in the reverse order..

i hope this helps..

if anything happens to you or the car.. its' not my fault
