Hey everyone, is the ride quality of the H&R springs any good? Anyone with experience? Much different that of the Eibachs?

I had the GLE trim, and got the H&R's with tokico.

The ride is alot like the GLE ride, but its bouncy.

Not a big problem for me.

Not quite sure what the GXE ride is like but it's very similar to the SE ride. Definitely not better so it should be more stiff than the GXE.

Does this mean the ride quality with H&R is worse than GLE?

the ride is VERY similiar to the GLE, just a bit more bouncy on uneven roads.

I think it is not as harsh as the stock SE ride plus you get the benefit of the drop. I have not had Eibachs. I have never driven a GXE or GLE. I don't think mine are bouncy.

It feels just right to me: the H&R's provide a compromise between performance, comfort, and looks.

Yup. I'm definitely pleased with mine as well.

My H&R get installed this week. I will give my feedback from stock 2K1 SE to H&R reveiw.

mbcp_tdogg: Do most people notice your car is dropped? I mean people who don't know much about Maximas?

Most people that know little about Maximas don't notice that it's dropped. My guess is that because the front and the back are not even, (1 - 1.5 inches of gap in the front while almost none in the back) people naturally don't think that it's lowered.

Yup. That is what you have to deal with when ride comfort is of importance. But once again, love my H&Rs.

Did you have one bumpstop cut off when you had yours installed?

Yes. Kev and Turbo95Max did the install and they cut off one ring all around.

did you HAVE to cut the bumpstops, or is it not neccessary?

i'm planning on doing the install myself on the H&R's, and from the How to's i read that it wasn't that hard, and it didn't mention anything about the bumpstops.

It was recommended to cut the bumpstops so that there's more room to travel thus lowering the chances of bottoming out.

i didnt get my bumpstops cut.

i asked the shop to cut it, but they said it wasnt necessary. they said normally, on a civic or something, they would cut off the bumpstop. my max didnt need it he said.

and i have not felt any 'bottoming out' effects

Well with any aftermarket lowering springs, your ride will deteriorate. Sure, on smooth roads it will be smooth, but so will having no suspension on a smooth road. When it gets bumpy, well, you'll be happy you have a soft cushy drivers seat (unlike those rock hard racing seats). One thing about the Maxima is that you can't improve handling much without killing the ride. But hey, it's not a BMW, so you can't really expect that.

If you do get H&R's, also get aftermarket struts. The labor is the same, so save money by doing both at once.

wow.
eric's post kinda put a little doubt in my head wether or not i'm going to go for the springs. lol. i like the look, but i don't want the really harsh harsh ride. from other posts they say it is close to SE rides, but to me my SE doesn't ride that bad.

i'm planning on doing the install with me and a couple of friends, so the labor won't be anything.

but that last post got me thinking about the spring thing a bit.

If the SE ride isn't too bad, I say go with the H&Rs. You'll hardly know the difference. Let the mod bug bite.
