Please post your 1/4 times!!

Please post your best 1/4 mile times (ET/60 foot/mph). I want to see how I compare tomorrow when I take my 2000 GXE 5 speed to the track tomorrow.

Please list if you have a manual or auto and any mods.

Thanks
Ray

Re: Please post your 1/4 times!!

I have a stillen y-pipe and intake. The best 1/4 mile time i got was a 15.4 @ 90mph. I still have the ****ty stock potenza's and i either spun the wheels too much, or not enough. I am going to go back after i get my new tires.

Hmmmm, I was hoping to get around 15.0's. Looks like that is not going to happen. Was it very hot/humid when you raced? I think it is only supposed to be in the upper 70's here tomorrow with low humidity.

It was pretty hot. Around 80 with 80% humidity. I would like to try it when it's 68 with low humidity.

I hit 15.1 stock on stock 17's potenza's, with my body kit.
So you should be able to hit a good 14.9 or 15.0. stock.
Good luck remember it's all in the launch

Are you manual guys powershifting?? I am not sure the tranny is up for 6500rpm powershifts. Also, again to the manual guys, what rpm are you launching at?

15.81 @ 87.1 (if you believe in it - corrected to standard conditions -> 15.7 @ 88)

They key to maxima's seems to be the launch, which is a bit easier for you 5spd guys than us autos. I'm completely and utterly stock on 16" toyo's.

Now, mr. 15.3, how in the h*ll did you do that? what technique did you use to launch? what tire pressure? etc.

15.6 sound like good number for auto.I guess some of the.6 can probably be shaved off, if you have a perfect run. I guess having a run in a dry and cold day might help shave off some number.

What do you guys think about cold air effects on the performance of the engine ? I mean real cold air like -10 to -20, I am wondering if that could make a difference compare to if you run in the low 70's( I think I know the answer but any how I'd like to get more info about it ).

Thanks for sharing.

Cheers to all of you.

Um, Okay, that's cool. I don't doubt your times...I'm just wondering how that was timed.

I raced at Rock Falls Raceway, Wisconsin on 5/12/2001.
Car was stock normal 2000 automatic except for OSCAI. Tank was 1/4 full, and spare tire was left in the trunk. Weather was mid 80's and pretty humid. Races were electronically timed on the measured 1/4 mile track.
Launch method was torque brake at 2000 rpm, pedal to the metal, shifts occurred @ redline. Shifting and launch could not get any better.

R/T - 0.745
60' - 2.529
330 - 6.810
1/8 - 10.311
1/4 - 15.785
MPH - 89.11

Stock 00' 5spd (CALI SPEC) with OSCAI:

60' 2.43
1/4 15.54
mph 90.66
Temp 90+ degrees

** I was only at the track for just over an hour, so the car never got a chance to cool down. All of my runs were made at regular operating tempature, and my tire pressure was normal as well.

Thats light mods, considering my cousin has a decked out ///M3 motor in his 92 5 series(started out 525, til hydrolocked.)
As for what a 328i runs ? I beat one when I was almost bone stock, so who knows ?

OK Guys, I am the one who started the thread here are my results:

Took the Maxima to the track for the first time today (2000 GXE 5 Speed). My Mustang Club had rented the track for 4 hours. I was able to run 8 times in the first 1.5 hours, but quit because I was so frustrated. Every time I raced, they set me up agaist an 11-12 second car. I couldn't hear my engine or tell if my tires where spinning. It sucked. I could have ran 15 more times if I wanted to.

Here is my best run:

r/t .546
60 2.396
330 6.57
1/8 9.978/71.9mph
1000 12.91
1/4 15.37 / 93.42 mph.

The mph seems good, but I am very disapointed in the times. My 60ft sucks. I can't drive for ****. I was really hoping for 14.9's. It was supposed to be in the low 70's today, but the cold front did not come through. It was probably close to 90 when I was racing, and the track is at 700ft above sea level.

I never powershifted and tried leaving the line at 3000 rpms. I spun badly on every launch, or bogged terrible. I wish this thing had some better low end torque, it would make it much easier to pull out.

Just for comparison's sake, I had the g-tech hooked up while I did my runs. On this particular run, it recorded:

14.9 @ 99.1 mph.

It was consistently off by this same amount.

Yea, I made it a DISPLAY piece in my den.

Actually, I just haven't had the time or money to get it installed. I hope to get it done in the next weekend or so.
