This isn't a great pic of my interior, but it should give you an idea. It covers pretty much everything, you can see it on the vents and door armrests.

I have the Molded kit. The real brushed alum kit can be picked up from Joshua Tree for around $220-300 depending on the sale going on. That is the original kit I had, but I removed it in favor of a molded kit from Woodview in stainless steel (its really plastic, but looks like stainless). I personally like the molded kit better and it looks more like it is made for the max. The real alum. is nice, bright and flashy, but it lacks some cosmetic apeal for me. But personal tastes vary.

You can see the pics of my molded kit on my homepage to the left under my username. They are spread out but you can see what it looks like.

Paul2kGXE (i think that is his username ... I just remember Paul. He actually had a full writeup on the install process of the molded kit.)

Hope this helps.

Is the brushed aluminum kit the ones that people say look like ghetto stickers and aren't molded? Yeah Paul2kGXE has a bunch of pix/instructions on the installation and finished product.

I don't know about ghetto stickers ... but it just matches the oulines of the piece being covered. For instance, say you look at the center air vents with the molded kit. Everything is covered and only the cross slats and center "air/NO air" controller are visible. Now if you look at the real alum kit (sorry didn't take pics before I got rid of it) you can see an outline around the outside of the kit ... the top portion of the whole housing is not covered at all. That was the real pet peeve of mine and the fitment issues of some of the pieces.

why don't u just paint it?

my buddy with a 2000 SC'ed Max just took off the pieces himself (really ez 2 do) & he just painted it ... granted it's a special paint just for dash pieces so it may cost more ... but nothing like the cost of the kit ... plus it looks a zillion times better since there's nothing sticking out ... everything is totally flush since there's no layer of vinyl or alum on top of the pieces ...

That's cool and all but when you ever decided to trade your car, you would be takinga big hit on that.

If you use a heat gun it would come off. But there is no nead to remove the kit b/c it is considered to be an aftermarket upgrade. Who would want to buy a car like a Maxima once somebody has used the dash as an art project?

yeah, the kit is really easily removable.
all you need to do is just heat it up and peel it off...

one of the reasons i didn't get the brush aluminum kit is because of the color contrast between the kit and my dash pieces...since i have black interior, getting a non-molded near white color pieces would totally make my eyes sore..
so that's why i chose the carbon fiber over the brushed aluminum. it looks better in my opinion..

I did that in my fourth gen max. I painted the dash pieces the same color as the exterior and cleared them. People thought that it was some kinda special edition. But the dealer didn't think much of it and was going to deduct from my trade in value until I told him that I had the factory pieces at home.

They had a kit for the 5 speed that i bought. It was about $239. I highly suggest getting it, the way it makes the interior look is hot.

Didn't catch which kit you were looking at, but I think you'll like just about whichever kit you get. All the kits I have looked at come in either automatic or manual forms so you are safe there.

Of the two kits I had ... If you ask me the real brushed alum. kit looks cheap in comparison to this molded kit. Granted I got compliments on both kits, but people who have seen both have always said that they like this molded kit better.

The Woodview molded kit looks great. Not cheesy. And it won't peel.

Do not get the Jashua Kit or any kit on eBay, go to discountdash.com and get the molded brushed aluminum kit. It fits the car perfect, and it is not crapy stickers, they are actual big pieces of plastic that are really nice. I hope to have pics soon. The black/chrome Levoc shifter matches with the kit perfectlly.

just a quick question about the mold.

does it go over the stock trim including the GLE woodtrim?

I have never seen the GXE or SE, so I dont know if their trim is the exact same except that its grey plastic....

If I got a woodkit instead of brushed aluminum would it look like overkill? I don't want it to look cheesy..
