I was thinking about getting a short throw shifter...does anyone have one...what kind is the best and how easy is it to install? Does the armrest become a pain in the butt with the short throw? I would think that a shorter throw would dramatically help out in races....the stock is a little too long for me!

short shift

I got the stillen short throw... it's expensive.. but anything to get rid of that long throw... I used to think I was driving a truck... with the factory stick... now it's more to my liking... specially after I put a custom solid billet TITANIUM shift ****... I know a machinist... and the metal was not cheap... about $500.00 bills... but the guy owed me a big favor.. so the rest is history.... I think even a ferrari is not nice enough to be the recipient of my shift ****... anyways.... I installed the short shifter myself... it's relative straight forward... just takes time... but it's worth it... I went back to the dealer to drive the new AE... and I am so glad I have my short throw... That factory stick sucks... so for all you 5sp Max owners... get it.... it will make your throws a lot quicker... it might even save you in a race.

BTW the short throw shift is not necessary a shorter shifter. Usually the section AFTER the pivot point is lengthened. That mean the height to the driver is the same, but the throws are shorter. the adjustable shifters have it so you can adjust the pivot point.

I didn't pay the $500.00, the guy owed me a favor so I got the metal and the machining in return for the favor he owed me.... It's not how much money ya got... it's who ya know?

IIRC, SMC/Pacesetter short shifter is $90 or so. Maybe $100, seen it as low as $70 in group deals.
