It really depends...If you gonna mod your car all out than there is really no point of getting an SE or a GLE except for the tail lights and for show...

BTW I still gonna better deal than you on my car

Is that for any 00-01 SE or just the AE SE with the skirt kit. I can see the skits helping some, but not the wing, not that much.

I gotta say though, I personally consider myself a spoiler critic #1, I hate the spoilers on most cars. I believe though the maxima is one of the cars where it just looks plain with out a spoiler...

I honestly see no difference driving in a spoiler and non spoilered maxima but what do I know I'm always doing 5-10mph over the limit

Come on! The spoiler make the rear end look better! The brake light is cool.

Actually, the spoiler and the blacked out tail lights on maximas don't look good, not even a little bit. and as for your .01 better drag, thats fine, we'll trade you that for the what? 150 lbs extra you weigh? so there

GXE rules!

Hey I'll give you the fact that a spoiler doesn't do much in terms of performance and if it does it is minimal.

BUT saying it looks ugly is plain ol' mean. If I had a GXE or GLE I would not even give a second thought to upgrading to the lights and spoiler so

SE'S RULE!!!!

I know everybody in the entire world disagrees with me, but in my opinion i think the max looks much cleaner and better without the spoiler and tinted taillights...

I agree that the wing is not needed for most views of the car. However, that straight back on view of the car without the wing is just scary. I think that the black lights and the wing saves many an SE from but-ugliness. (pardon the punn!)

How much did you get your car for?

And if I recall rading a Motor Trend magazine, they said that stock spoilers basically do nothing for performance. They actually found that it hinders performance (I think). For it to have any effect, the spoiler would have to be higher than the roof for apply "real" downforce. And front spoilers are like that too. I read in an issue of Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords when they were comparing the '93, '95 and '00 Cobra R, that the '00 ran faster in the 1/4 with the front spoiler and rear wing off because it created more drag during straight line performance. They gained one mph and nearly a tenth off the 1/4 time. Pretty good.

If it were stock SE vs stock GXE, I would go with the SE. But there is so little difference that the first real mod you make will make a GXE better than an SE.

Personally I like the mahogany color on GXE because the red tails go with the color better.

As for spoiler... Gotta have the Spoiler!

No you are right, I would rather have those ugly 16" rims

I agree with you and have posted that very same phrase in the past. I like the red tails much better than the blasked out se tails. The only one I think they would look better on are the black max's with the blacked out tails. I really like them then, but on a white ... no thanks.

Spoiler ... maybe, maybe not. Depends on my moods and which personality I put on in the morning.

hell no!!!!!!!!!! You're so right, I love my car because of the black paint juxtaposed to the red tail lights of the GXE. It looks nice and clean without the spoiler... I don't like the middle support tower of the stock spoiler.

well the world can hate us, but I agree with u

As an SE owner, I have to admit that the black taillights took some time to get used to. Now I love it but I see reason for people's complaints. As for the spoiler, I think it looks good but even if it didn't, the selling point for me is the brake light. You get a whole bar of brake light instead of a dinky rectangle in your rear view.

Does that mean you're going with the 2k2 taillights?

Hey, the spoiler let's me see where the back end of the car is when backing up! (A trend in this squashed jellybean school of design is to have the trunk slope away. I hate that. )

WHAT!! SE RULES !

You can't say that the GXE rules the SE. The new maxima will prove this statement wrong. Can't wait for it to come the dealers so I can go get mine right away.

i love the way the spoiler looks on my SE... the only thing i don't like is the bbar coming down the middle. i would much rather have the old maxima spoiler with just one support on each end. as for the taillights, sometimes they look a little funny against my white car but i like them, theyre different. does anybody know if the 2002 se will have the same lights or will that have the clears too? what about the black chrome? and will they continue with a special edition or something that has the front and side spoilers like on the 20th anniversary?

They won't do another car like the '01 20th AE Maxima, unless they have one for 25th anniversary. Who knows, by then then Maxima will probably rear wheel drive. Check out some of the previous threads, someone posted a comparison picture of '00-'01 SE tail lights with the '02 tail lights.
