In all honesty, overall, they suck.

Why?

Mainly because EBC promises "dust free" braking and "long life" which both claims are outright lies. Purchasing these will leave you regretting it for the next 8 months to a year.......when you have to replace them.

They dust like no tomorrow, they also wear out like no tomorrow. This has become a general dot org consensus on these. Their only main advantage is they are REAL easy on rotors and don't have to be warmed up when cold.

I hope you won't support the liars that are EBC. There's no excuse for making the claims they do. Tire Rack should be ashamed for selling them. It really surprises me that they do.

My comments are mild compared to any Honda board. Go ask the Accord guys what they think. Their problems have been much more danger-oriented.

Skip the EBCs and get some Porterfields or anything else.

good to know guys. i was ready to give tirerack a call, but now i'll look for something else.
how are the Hawk HPS pads?
the Porterfields sound good, but i'm turned off by the heavy brake dusting.

as an aside, i had my oil changed today and they told me my brake fluid level was 50% low. i was told that it's usually worn out brake pads that cause this, and not actually low brake fluid. is that correct?

Porterfields or Axxis Metal Master pads. Accept no substitutes.

Member Matt93SE will be happy to tell you about the Hawk pads......suffice to say he hates them.

Jane has Axxis pads and they definitely dust less than the Porterfields. I believe the wheels are going on 3 weeks without being washed and they still look shiny (compared to the Tantrums).

The main advantage of the Metal Masters is you can go 3 weeks until you say "dang, my wheels are dirty". With EBC Greenstuffs, it was 3 days. With Porterfields, it *sounds* like a week.

If you're lazy like me and don't want to wash your car just because the rims are filthy, get some Metal Masters. Details are in the 4th Gen Maintenance sticky post for brake part numbers.

Kev, you're welcome to copy that info over. I don't have the power to do that in the 4th gen forum (yet.... ). I'm trying to get Jamie to let me though.....

.

Oh yeah..... washed my wheels last week and they're gunmetal this week. Maybe I should take pictures the next time I wash the car (then a week later to compare). Gunmetal looks NICE on a sterling mist max.
