Radiator Cap
#1
Hey group, found this Nismo radiator cap for $36 online. It raises pressure up to aboout 18.5 psi. Is there another option in this price range. Is it worth the money at all. In reading SCC it sounds like a worthy upgrade to the cooling system along with some Redline Water Wetter on the way.....Thanks in advance!

I don't think so. The way I read the article in SCC, they installed the 300ZX radiator cap on their project Sentra and there were no negative benefits and only and increased cooling capacity which is positive. They indicated it was one of the cheapest replacements for cooling improvements.....Don't know for sure thogh...

a cheaper alternative is to use the Z radiator cap. Its very cheap and the cap is about 2psi more then the Maxima one. id be worried about the Nismo one cause the car was designed for about 13lbs of pressure, if you put too much on some other things might fail. my friend uses the Nismo cap on his Z with no probs...dunno bout the Max

I'd be careful...

yes it will work on the Max. If you consider that fitting on the Max is working. Juss cause it fits, doesnt mean it works PROPERLY or SAFELY. I think that is what we are trying to get at rite now. I belive the Nismo cap is pushing the limits of the cooling system that MIGHT not be stout enough to handle that much pressure. Keep in mind if you never reach extreme water temps you wont benefit from the Nismo cap, 99% of the time the stock cap is enough, and then you can upgrade to the Z cap which is an improvement over stock. The Nismo one is prolly OVERKILL....

Uh, fearless moderator, I stand corrected by your divine wisdom....I should have shut up when I had the chance, but the opportunity to be, at least for a short time, a post ***** was too difficult to forego! Now how 'bout a discount on a supercharger!!
