It's not that hard....
All you really have to do is connect one wire to a power source and ground the other wire... The location of the radar detector is optional... I just put mine on the ceiling behind the windshield!!!!!

Re: ?

Yes, Escort makes the Passport and the Solo models. You want to get either these top three models:

1. Passport 8500
2. Bel 980
3. Valentine 1

Anything else you are wasting your money.

Hey, last year, someone had a mod where there radar was on both sides of the clock on the 5th gen. It was tight, don't remember who had it though.
I never figured out how to do that either, so if anyone remembers, let me know.

Well first of all .. the 8500 is quite definitely better, from what I've read in at least two reliable roundups. If I could install an 8500 the way I have my V1 installed, I would be doing it in a heartbeat.

The V1 is nice, but chatty as hell. Even on super-logic mode with X band turned off.

There are pics of my install on my web site, sorry I don't know exactly where... I just switched servers and things are a bit messed up

There is the Passport SR-1 which has 2 seperate sensors. One mounts on your front license plate frame and the other mounts on the rear license plate frame. I can get them for $550.00...I sold one to one guy here on the org in NYC and he did post pics here somewhere...Also on the 8500, I've been selling them here on the org for $235.00 and what I have is the Bel 980 and selling them on the org for $289.00.
Bel, Passport and Escort are all sister companies but do not share the same technology...

nice

prices look good, If the passport 8500 is supposed to be the best, why is it cheaper than the bel??

Is that the same exact thing I saw listed on escort site for 299??(passport 8500)

problem is, the sr-1 is not anywhere near as good as the 8500. I love the way my V1 is setup, super-stealth. Like i said if i could do that with an 8500, u'd have a deal.

Retail price on the 8500 is $299.00...I'm selling them out of my car audio store ONLY to Maxima.org members for $235.00. Check around to see if there is a Tweeter store near you. I don't know why the 980 and the 8500 are priced differently but basically has the same features. Let me know.

Not sure about the differences between the standard
Passport 8500 and this one

http://amos.catalogcity.com/cc.class...60077&ccsyn=15

Perhaps someone else can shed some light to this because
this price is really good.

That price for $199 is for the Solo, it's the cordless model. No where near the 8500

Look at the final price when you and shipping and handling or even 2-3 shipping brings everything up to about the same price as I'm selling them for on Maxima.org.

Call me at my store at 760-945-5900 and ask for Maximadave
or find out if there is a Tweeter store near you. If there is PM me with your name, address, phone number, etc. and I will generate an invoice on my end and call the store near you to reserve one and all you have to do is show up with an invoice number I give you and pay for it and pick it up.
Let me know

VERY curious

How effective are detectors in keeping you from getting TICKETS, which is the real issue on the table?

Cops certainly don't have to radar you to pull you over.

I also haven't heard any success stories, like "glad my radar detector saved my azz today"

Can anyone post some of their experiences ? Has anyone gotten a ticket since purchasing one?

I've never ever had a radar detector before until about 4 months ago when I was racing this early BMW M3 and the CHP out here in cali caught me doing 103 in a 65...ouch!!! After $500.00 in fines, $480.00 in bail, $300.00 in attorney fees, and a whopping 60 day suspension on my drivers license (I get it back Sept. 9th), I bought the Bel 980 and driving down Interstate 15 south going to work every morning there is at least 2-4 CHP cops hiding in the center divide with their radar guns on all the time and my radar detector goes off at least 1/2 to 1 mile ahead to warn me about the radar gun ahead, so it has definately saved my a** since I got it...

Maximadave
Oh yeah, thanks to everyone who attended the San Dimas meet so I wouldn't get nabbed by the local police there! Mr. Nismo, Maxed up, Wizzamax, Z car guy...and everyone else...Thanks

getting a "cheap" radar is better than no radar.
