I was cruising home with my wife and mother-in-law from a day of shopping. Had 2 executive chairs and a put-together desk from Office Depot in the trunk. Anyway... taking my usually route home on Sunset Blvd, ( a long straight street that runs for about 14 blocks, with stop light at every 2 blocks ) when this guy in a Solara starts to tailgate me, he was by himself in the car. So I cut over to let him pass, but no... he cuts over and tailgates me somemore. Normally, I would have taken this as a great opportunity... but with the wife, mother-in-law, and about 200-300 lbs. of office furniture in the trunk, I figure to let this one go... but nooo... he has to push my button. So I said "fine". I punch it with him behind me and I take a 1 car lead... I cut over to give him a open lane at the next light. 1st run... dead even. I didn't even launch it in my usual fashion ( torque brake ). I'm like... is this for really??? 2nd run I launch with my usual torque brake at 1800 rpm. I bet him by about 1/2 car, maybe alittle more. I couldn't believe it. 3rd race... I launch like usual and he took me by about 1 car this time. Hummmm.... was he toying with me? Did he turn on NOS or something?
I tried to talk to him and give him the thumbs up, but he wouldn't look over at me, big attitude problem I think.
Anyway... question. Let's say the last run was the real run... would I have been able to hang or even bet him if I was by myself with no one else in the car? Sorry so long guys

If it was a TRD ... doesn't it have a SC giving it 70+ hp on top of its already 200 hp v6?

huh

dang, so you would have to SC a solara to get it to even compete with a 5-spd maxima in stock form? whoa, thats not much bang for the buck, spending around $3,500 for a SC. they shoulda just bought a 5-spd Maxima and they could have burned you haha.

my friend has a TRD badge on the rear of his 92 MR2... all he has inside is a fat intake pipe and exhaust. TRD badge doesn't mean much

but if he really messed with you that much, maybe it was the NOX

considering you had all that extra weight, you did really well keeping up. The TRD may or may not mean anything. But anyhow, nice runs

what did your mother-in-law think of your driving skills?

There are three stages to the TRD Solara: wheels and suspension, body kit, and finally the supercharger. You can have the first 2 and look fast without actually being fast...

Supercharged Solara is something like a mid 14sec car in 5spd form.

Solaras are sweet looking cars though...they ride really really soft for stock, however.

Sorry I wasn't more descriptive...

I don't know if it was the TRD Solara with the SC... it was a Solara that was lowered, had rims, and TRD emblems on the front fenders and back of the vehicle. Sorry about that guys. But considering the last run as the real thing, I think I would have given him a run for his money if I was by myself. Would've like to find out what he was running, but he did not want to share
