sup people.

Anyone familiar with Random Tecnology's Catalytic Converter?
They have it for 1995 - 2001 Maxima's.

Supposedly it gives you an increase of over 14 horses and an extra 16.lbs of torque per foot. Does this sound like
bullsh*t to you guys or what?

and it's maaaad cheap too! less than 200 bucks!!

Your input on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I know C5 Corvette and LS1 Fbody people that use them with good results, they are top quality. I doubt there is 15hp to gain in the Maxima's cats however...maybe 3-10hp.

I read the same thing about that freer flowing cat, but if you look at the dyno description, it says it receives a bump in 14 but with a catback system installed. I would not even be surprised if they had an intake on the vehicle as well. So instead of getting 14 from the cat, you are getting 14 from a combo of mods. I thought the same thing when I first saw it, but just look over the description and you will see it. Maybe a 3-4hp gain is possible without other applicable mods.

I have one.... no way will this cat alone get you any significant gains. Get the y-pipe first if you plan on modding the exhaust. The cat and cat-back are secondary in terms of gains to be had.

I've seen a couple Maxima sites and the owners say the performance gain from the Random Technologies catalytic converter is zero to 1HP. Listen to UMD_MaxSE and get the Y-pipe first.

also remember that some car's catalytic converter may be old and clogged...a new one will definitely free up some hp.

We talked about this about 4-5 years ago, it comes up every now and then.

I doubt that a Cat could make any HP gains. If your car has miles on it, and you change the Cat (regardless of brand) you will see a hp gain.

If your car is NEW, I doubt you would find any gain. Keep your money. If you need a replacement CAT, buy one of those $99 installed models, thats what I have. No difference.

Greddy Exhaust

I''ve been seriously considering the Greddy Exhaust but
it's kinda pricy and kind of useless considering that I don't plan on getting a y-pipe.

Maybe I should just get an exhaust that looks good and has a nice deep guttaral sound yet at the same time, will not burn the rear valance of the stillen aero kit I'm planning on getting in the future.

Any suggestions on exhausts I can consider?
