looking at those updates pix of the 02 interior, i'll definitely be upgrading my overhead console. the pulltab on the sunglass holder on my 00 seems kinda cheesy. two maplights don't hurt either.
also, any word on swapping in the gated shifter for our button-type one? is it just a shifter swap or do you guys think actual transmission work is required? i'm not a mechanic so i've no idea.

I've heard the shifter swap will not be possible. I suppose it would take somebody measuring, pondering, and tearing one apart to determine if it is possible. Probably not worth it...

 

aah, better off. with all the money i'd put into upgrading to 02/AE parts, i might as well buy an 02 max.

I had a 2kmaxse, and now have a 2k1 AE. I too thought that part was junk.. I rented a 2k1 altima ltd.ed. and noticed
that it had a nice geared flip-down door! Not only that, tha alti has side-illumination lamps when the turn signal(s) is activated. We own the Nissan flagship??

Also, my 2k had dual maplights on the overhead console, my 2k1 has a single.

As far as the shifter is concered, anyones guess is as good as mine. I bet it will fit, unless the 2k2 tranny has a dumb "man-u-matic" option. If the gears selections are exactly the same ie. PRND21 I don't see why not. It will probably be expensive too.
