Hello everyone!

I was on the highway tonight on my way to meet some of my friends, when in the fast lane a nice blue 67 Stingray passes me up. I was doing around 65 at the time. I loved the car, so I decide to speed up a bit so I can get a good look at it (but not trying to race). The guy driving was in and out of traffic a bit... actually, I was surprised to see him driving that way with a classic car like that. The car sounded real nice.... err... nice and loud. I dont know what he had under the hood or anything but the car looked pretty much stock to me. Anyway, the guy looks over at me and gives a snob look, and then guns it for a few seconds and slows back down. We were both doing about 75 side by side now. Looked like he had his woman in the car with him to. Then he jumps on it a little bit again, and we wind up side by side again, I figured... why not... lets rumble! We both hit it... the Vet is screamin... I started pulling away from him pretty good.... I used up 3rd and slammed it into 4th and I got a real nice lead on him. Once this happened, he slowed down (maybe his woman wanted out?? ) and I gave a flash or two with the hazards and gave the Max a nice pat on the dashboard for a job well done . What a fun race!! I never ran with one of those before.

I can't wait to get my Maxima broke in so I can mash down on the go fast pedal and spank a mussel car or two.

Not to burst your bubble or anything, but he really wasn't racing you. You would get smeared.

I agree

Being brought up building Classics my self I know there is no way in hell a Max could even touch a completely stock Stingray. I have a buddy with a (mostly)stock '69 with a 427ci, that thing can jump sideways at 65mph if you jump on the throttle.

I really dont know what options that vette had, engine wise (if there were many back then) , or what its condition was (It was nice but not cherry by any means). Obviously it is impossible to know for sure. He sure seemed to be on it... that thing was screaming. I pulled him over 100. Strange that he would purposely loose when he had his girl with him. If I was that guy (looked like he was in his 20's or so) and driving that car with the Max trying to race me, I would be puttin the smack down on him. Awesome car no doubt... no disrespect to it intended. Just thought I would mention it... fun or race... or tease.. whatever the case may be. Have a good one!

Those things roar just idling. Out of the box they pack a 327/300. Through '63~'67, they introduced a big block option. A 396 put down 425 HP and later introduction of the 427 with three Holley two-barrel carburetors puttin' down 435 HP. GM says it was 435 HP but it was more like 500+.

Even if they do not appear in mint condition it was probably taken care of to some degree and still packs a helluva punch. Again, I do not think he was racing you.
