Hello,
I was asked by a fellow member of the maxima group to check out a possible turbo kit for your (5g) Maxima. My Shop would be interested in developing a turbo kit for you, I just need a vehicle willing to let me test on it in my area.
I'm in Chico, CA about 1.5hrs North of Sacramento, CA.
If your in the area and is interested I would need your car for about 2-3 weeks to get everything together.
We would most likely use a T3/T04E Turbo mated with a tial wastegate and beaded chromed piping much like the kits we sell for the Eclipse/Talon, and soon the Avenger/Sebring 6 cylinder models.

www.turbogs.com

Please e-mail us and let us know if you are interested.
Our shop is currently still under construction www.raceprep.net. We will have a Dynojet model 248 to test every component on the turbo system.

Will an intercooler be part of the application?

I am interested (not for testing I live on East coast) but will reserve judgement until HP numbers and cost of kit has been announced. There seems to be a bunch of these "projects" going on, but I never see a finished product.

I might speak for everyone on the board (then again might not), that we are interested in longevity, ease of install (oil lines, how are you going to get feed lines?) and performance at a fair cost. Tough stuff, but we are a tough crowd...hope it is a success!

I'm interested in an IC setup (without the turbo). I'm from the Bay Area along with a few other people. http://maxima.cardomain.com/id/norcal_maximas

Well, that would be a problem. It would have to be from the bay area or at least Northern Cali.
What kind of IC setup do you have right now? You might want to switch over to a top/bottom IC to increase flow.

I don't have an IC setup with my supercharger, but I'm currently looking into doing one myself or having a shop fabricate one for me.

Sorry, I thought I saw a picture with a FMIC on it? Maybe that wasn't your car. I'm not familiar with your SC setup. But if you wanted to come up for a weekend I could fit a Spearco FMIC and do the rough piping for you. Then we could get it mandrel bent and chrome plated for you (if your sc will allow it)
Just some ideas

Turbo95Max has an FMIC on his car. You probably saw his picture.

How much would you charge for the custom turbo prototype if I donated my car? In the beginning, I was planning on going with a turbo application with the help of Turbo95Max until I got a supercharger at a very good price.

The FMIC project also sounds good. How much would you charge for that?

Thanks Wyatt.

If I'm going to be using your car for our prototype it would be for free. You might have to buy the Turbo/wastegate for cost but everything else would be paid for.

That sounds fair. So you'll need to borrow my car for about 2-3 weeks? I'm pretty interested...

Could you tell me what parts you're going to install (i.e. larger injectors?, FPR?, fuel pump?, boost controller?, turbo timer?, some sort of fuel management unit?, FMIC?, etc.)? You can answer via email if you don't want to give out any info.

Are you also interested in doing a 4th generation Maxima as well? I/we have a 97 readily available (supercharged also).

Ok Kev I see that you are interested in the turbo, but I just got off the phone with Wyatt and I will be bringing my car in on Sunday to do the initial testing. I hope you don't get mad. =P Seriously, if you want to do it instead, you can have dibs... don't want to **** you off or anything.

After the testing and fitting period how long do you think it would take to actually have a working prototype and have it readily available for sale. I am basically modeling my 01SE after Y2kevSE so I am wondering whether to splurge for the S/C, spray, or wait for your turbo.

I can't speak for all but I know I am sure pleased that you have taken an interest in the VQ engine.

Thanks in advance

Time Frame that I know so far

It looks like my baby is going to be the prototype car. I am going up to meet Wyatt tomorrow (Sunday) to do some measuring and testing. If every thing goes well, Wyatt said "a few weeks" later he would start the install and testing which he is guessing will take another 2-3 weeks.

Now don't hold me to that but this is the time frame we have discussed for the prototype so far. After I talk to him tomorrow I will tell you more....hopefully.
Cheers!!!
