Has everyone seen the new 2002 Maxima commercial? It's the one where this hooded figure on a horse is chasing the Maxima and getting closer and closer. Then when you think the Maxima has lost the chase, the car shifts into a higher gear and blows the hooded figure away.

It seems to be symbolic, almost saying that the Maxima is escaping obscurity by pumping things up a little for the 2002 model year. Hmmm....

By the way, Desert Nissan in Las Vegas has 2002 Altimas and Maximas in stock. I saw about five Altimas there and one Maxima SE and one GLE there. Both are sweet. They tell me that they should be getting in brochures for both by next week. They are also giving away a free Samonite bag with a test drive and has some $1,000,000 givaway to sign up for. So for those in the area, check 'em out.

Other than the Hollywood imagery, I think the ad. is kind of lame. First of all a horse runs what 40 mph max. A VW bug will blow off a horse, big deal.

A better ad would be an older Ferrari, say a 328 which has 260 hp (resembles the Tom Magnum red ferrari which was a 308). Have the 328 challange the Max. on a twisty road and then on a straight the Max pulls away to the astonished look of the Ferrari driver. With the engine sounds of the Ferrari this would be a great ad.
In reality it would probably be very close and for the Max to win, the 328 would have to be hitting on only 7 cylinders.

I think what the ad is trying to convey is this:

Since no one escapes death (the Grim Reaper), the Maxima is fast enough to escape death (so I guess the Maxima will be around for a while). It's not merely saying it can outrun a horse, but death itself.

But, wouldn't the Maxima run even faster if it's on pavement and not on a dirt road(like in the commercial)???

symbolic or not... the whole desert environment is overdone. And the fact that the horse was keeping up with the car at the beginning with engine noises sounding like it was accelerating hard.

Best ad was the sunset one.

The commercial is tight, and of course death can go faster than 40mph because he is riding a ghastly steed, not a live horse!!!

But the sunset commercial was the best... nissan has pretty good commercials IMO. My mom was like... "what does
'cars like it: 0' mean? Does that mean that there aren't any cars that are fond of the Maxima? It's a stupid commercial!" LOL
