today during school, this 1 guy who i see around on campus driving a ford focus happens to pull up next to me on a light during lunch....he has a 5spd [?] manual tranny w/ racing cams and an exhaust tip, not much else that i could see or anything else he told me bout...i put the car into 1 ready to display my 'manumatic' skills....the light turns green and i get bout .5 second burn and get off the line b4 he does...his launch was pretty bad.....so quickly im bout 3/4 car ahead and begin to pull when he starts coming up, and gets to 1/2 car but then switches into 2nd and around the same time i switch into 2, again he falls back 3/4 car but comes back to about 1/2 car and closing, but rite then, my friend sittn shotgun [i had 4 ppl total, vs his 2 total] goes oh ****, is that a cop? and its a cop on a motorcycle going in the opposite direction so i push into D and brake...what i wanna know is how the hell did he keep up w/ me.....going into 5th period after lunch i was oh so disappointed...i felt ashamed of my max for the first time cuz i couldnt even put away a ford focus....must get mods...

Those things are spunky. They also have as much (probably more) after-market parts than our Maximas do and they are a couple of years old.

 

You should have got a 5 speed which is faster.

Article below clocked a 5 speed manual Max SE at 6.7 seconds in the 0 to 60.

Ford Focus is a 16.70sec car according to Motor Trend. With mods, it's a bit faster. What's funnier, Toyota Echo is FASTER than the Focus, also according to Motor Trend.

It was funny, my friend had a passenger in his ****us. I had a passenger in my CRX. We were entering a freeway and on the on-ramp, he was flooring it...I was flooring it, and i pulled VERY hard on him (it was a two lane on-ramp).

Remember, you're also carrying a lot of weight when you raced him...

 

i have a couple reasons why i didnt get manual, ive been wishing i didnt go automatic but i did....when i got my car last year 1) i didnt know how to drive manual 2) i live in cali socal and w/ la traffic, not too much fun 3) my parents didnt want manual cuz they cant drive it....
so thats why i didnt get manual...im gonna need sum major mods now....im thinkn bout putting in 2-12" Kicker Solo Barics w/ an Audiobahn 2801 amp and boxed and stuff...only problem, its gonna cost me round 8bills w/ install...my dads paying for most of it but im paying some of it too...either i could get a cheaper system, which i dont really wanna do, and save my money and get a y-pipe by beginning of new year, or i could juss start saving up all over again....also, the whole system is gonna weigh a lot as u guys prolly know, so any mods i do will only get my time back to what it is now even if that...DILEMMASSSSSSSSSS

im really hoping its like supercharged or sumthing but i dont think he was lying when he said only racing cams and exhaust tip...ive been talkn a lotta **** back and forth to my friend who has audi 2.8 a4 non-quattro, and after today, i think im gonna stop

I'd race the Audi. On the race with the Focus, joo had some weight in that ride if you were driving 4 plp. with you.

 

Your friend must be a bad driver to only be able to do 17.10 with a 5 speed. Edmunds clocked the 5 speed SE at 15.1 @ 98 mph in the quarter.

 

A4's are faaast. i was on the highway goin 130 and still pushing for more, and the audi guy kept going and going and going. he was going at least 150.. seriously, maybe he had juice i dont know?

What are you talking about? I don't think he was talking about a Maxima. Since when does AEM come out with an intake for the Max? and who makes fake cobra looking hoods for the Max? I believe he was talking about a Focus SE.

 

 

a4s are slower than 328is, and i've raced my bro.. sometimes win, sometimes lose. hes beaten me a lot because of **** launches, and i gues his 5 speed. but i can take him out from 85+

 

that guy must have had a blower or something cause he pulled so hard at such high speeds.. i kno it was a dark blue audi 4 door. i thought it was the a4.

it super fast! The Focus rally car can keep up with the Impreza. I was amazed!! I know it's only a video game, but it's a pretty realistic one.

 

we'll never know. could have been an s4, but i would have noticed an s4 badge, maybe an a6?

 

weight makes a huge difference, especially two more people/
