What fun. I only ended up making two runs because I wanted to watch some also. Here are the stats for my 1st run (It's bad cause I had HORRIBLE wheel hop. I thought my car was going to fall apart.)

R/T 1.294
60' 2.610
330 7.375
1/8 10.922
MPH 69.95
1000 13.935
1/4 16.448
MPH 90.48

And then the second run, instead of trying to launch at like 3k, I just gave it a lot of gas as I was walking the clutch out. That way seemed to work better. I was racing against a 2000 Eclipse V6 both times with intake. hehe, and I beat him.
so here's my second run

R/T .833
60' 2.465
330 6.730
1/8 10.142
MPH 72.08
1000 13.089
1/4 15.562
MPH 92.23

I'm pretty satisfied with that for my second run ever. Just had to let you guys know! Of course I'll be going pretty often now.

How do I increase my 60' times? Is that all with the launch? I'd like to find a consistant way to launch, but I had wheel hop that was SO horrible the time I tried to launch from around 3k. I thought my car was going to fall apart. So, do I need to dump the clutch more slowly? Also, I heard that changing my front tire pressure helps too. Thanks for the help. I'll need it next week cause one of my friends who has an SI is gonna race too. (I can take her anyway though )
Thanks for the help!

It was good to meet you at New England Dragway. Nice second run! My first two runs I had 15.9's (beat an Intrepid and a ricey Neon) with R/T's around .550-.560 and then I had a couple of 16's. I hit the rev limiter momentarily on both of those runs going from 1st to 2nd. I was hoping to lower my best E/T because of the cooler weather.
I met another max owner there. He just bought a '94 Maxima, black?, auto, lowered, with 200K+ miles for $1000 or something like that. He was getting 16.4's or so. I told him to visit Maxima.org.
I saw a 4th gen Max make a run, but I didn't get to talk to him.

I agree with Nauman. Practice, practice, practice. I'll take time, but you'll get there.

14's might be possible

He is getting a high mph for the 1/4 isnt he??? Most of the runs I see are less than 90 mph. He is at 92+. With some work he might break into the 14's don't you think? That was a great second run. Hmmmmm.....I need to go to the track!

Yeah it was great to meet another maxima enthusiest. I don't get to meet too many. I had too much fun there so looks like I'll have to go again next week. I saw a few of your runs. Seemed like you were pretty consistent from the ones that I saw. I do remember seeing a 3rd gen black max, but wasn't able to talk to him. I did see the "gold" colored 4th gen run. He did ok. I saw him at McDonalds afterwards, but didn't get to talk to him too long.

Who's Nauman? Yeah practice will definately help (and be a lot of fun too). I think I'm WAY too obsessed now. "thankfully" I don't have the $$ to do more mods right now.

Thanks for the support guys!

nauman is umd_maxse... as for ur launchesn try slipping the clutch and not dumping it. it does take practice, but once u find out the right rpm to launch at, oh man ur gonna have lotsa fun! and i guess high 14s may possible with that trap speed of urs!

How is it that I have a 92 mph run with a 15.5 time, when I see others that have the same time, but a lot less mph? I don't get how that works.

Edmunds.com numbers for a 2000 SE 5 speed:

6.7 sec 0 to 60
15.1 @ 98 in the quarter

There's a good target to aim for.

It means you have a better TOP end, but they have better LOW end. They get going faster in the 1st part of the 1/4, because of more torque/a better launch/lighter vehicle/etc... However, once you hit your power band you pull faster through the traps which usually means you have more TOP end horsepower.

Improving the 60' will help both.

Hey, what are you trying to say about my launch! j/k Yeah yeah I hear I have to work on that one. I was origionally just comparing maxima's. But just wondering generally why that happens.

It is very possible to run high 14's stock.

Adam aka MY4DSC ran 14.9 stock in his 2k. He then ran 14.8 with a K&N cone filter and 18" rims.

Ed (Dont know if he's still around) but he ran 15.0 in his stock 2k.

With some practive you will hit at least low 15's.

get 2.1 or lower and you'll be doing good... should be around low 15s if not lower. its almost always all in the launch
