I've tried to be soooooo careful when I park.

Yesterday I went golfing to relax my mind from what's been happening to our country. Anyway, I parked in the back of the lot where no one was. When I finished 18 and went back to my car and a new Camery was parked next to mine on the passenger side - not thinking that this idiot in a new car would ding mine I left.....

This morning as I was heading off to work I noticed a "ding" on the passenger side door. I am so "P****ED OFF"!! I know it was him because I went home right afterward.

Any ideas what I should do (besides kick the guys door in)? What does something like this cost to repair?

Thanks,

Ollie

Yea. Paintless dent removal is the way to go. I didn't do it because sooner or later it'll happen again. But if u think it's worth it go for it. I think if I remember correctly they told me a dent that is a size of a dime would cost somewhere between 70-80 bucks. I'm waiting for some big $hit to happen so I can claim it with my insurance. But hopefully nothing would happen. I remember some Accord put a ding on my rear passenger door. I got so mad, I walked around the school parking lot and kept my eyes open for a Red Accord for the whole year. Since it was my last year at school, I thought I would never find that guy. But long behold as I was goin back to my car, I say it. So I walked around it and left my signature all over his car. He deserved it. $hit just happen even though u're careful. Can never prevent door dings and bumper scratches from dumb drivers.

dog on fact of life

The bottom line is that there are lots of inconsiderate folks out there. My 1998 didn't get dinged until 5 months old. When I had to work in the city it was like floodgates, 3 dings on only the front driver's door turned into multiple dings on all 4. Then the creme de la creme is a utility truck putting a nasty one in the back. I tried paintless dent and was unimpressed. The dude couldn't fix the big one, ok, because it's on a line. But he tried to show me how he could fix others and I was like what the f*** are you doing? It's like randomly sticking a rod into the panel and trying to pop it out. Go to a rental car company's lot and watch these guys work if you want to see it in action, for $70/panel you can't expect miracles. Body shops are $300 per panel but nobody really wants paint work unless absolutely necessary.

Ok, my point is many of us are like you, car enthusiasts, so we wouldn't ding other people's cars and expect the same. But that's just not the way it works, so if we can learn to live with 'em then at least we feel better. If you can't stand the ding, and your car is new so it's understandable, then body work will fix it. But I hate the idea of repainting. The whole funny thing about it is that nobody thinks less of our cars due to dings, only we do because we're enthusiasts!

well, I got my door smacked by my grandfather at a family reunion. I was so mad. I actually left for awhile to cool down. I mean, your own family.. and yes, they are all car people and know better, except for him and his ratty a$$ buick something or other.

anyway, it was pretty big, even scuffed the paint. I paid $72 for Dent Doctor and was very pleased. I was worried about what they would do, but the guy was like "look, only people that really car about there cars come here to get a ding taken out, we'll take care of you." and he did.

The only down side is that there is always a minimum, then its only a few dollars more per ding.. so one is like $70, the $15 each additional or something like that.

I think I was pleased because my car is sterling mist and the repair cannot be seen. I think a black car would not have the same result, its so much harder to hide a blemish, even a tiny one.

Ding-a-ling

You should've bought a Saturn, with ding-resistant doors!

But seriously, you can't do anything to prevent dings (ultimately) so just don't worry about it. The fact is that probably only you will notice it...especially if you wax your car up nice and shiny, you will forget about all the blemishes. My rear bumper has the imprint of a high-velocity shopping cart (I still wonder...) and All I tell myself is that it looks fine when the rest of the car is shiny!!! Plus, it gives me an excuse to get the Stillen aerokit.

Don't Mess With It

I'd just clean it up the best you can and live with it. A repair may cause more problems than it solves - I never break the factory finish unless absolutely necessary.

Accidents happen, but unfortunately there are a lot of inconsiderate people who don't care about other people's belongings.
