2002 Hid

For those who already have the 2002 headlights installed, my question is just looking at the 2002 headlight assembly it seems like it would have a hard time fitting. I mean is there enough clearance to fit the whole 2002 headlight unit in the existing headlight slot since there is the ballast unit on the 2002 headlight. Thanks

The slot where the ballast would go is empty, so there is no clearance issues.

BTW, don't follow Hogan's advice.

Thanks for the info. Right now I have the lights, the plugs/adapter for all the lights and I was wondering what else would I need? Any other harness kits? I know I need relays and the clips. Can install it right now with what I have and still have it work? hahah

Check out Alex's CarDomain page or Dixit's writeup for more info on what you need (sticky thread). Yes, you can install it now.

Hey Kev, I was wondering did u get the pigtail connectors from DAveB?
I'm a little bit confused about what they are. Are the pigtail connectors the plugs for the lights?

The pigtail connectors plug into the HIDs (connects to the connector right off the orange loom). No pigtail = no HID

IC. Thanks. I think I might have that already. i'm not too sure. Cuz I have different plugs that goes behind the bulbs itself. One for the hi-beam, one for the signal, and one for behind the HID. So would those be the pigtail connectors?

Those that have it, know what I mean.
Mine worked perfectly fine at that point when Highs were used.
As for the sides, grounded, and two "+" leads sorted.

Time: 45 minutes, removing 2K lamps, and plug in 2002 harness, and install 2K2 lamps, and connect w/ bullet connections.
So do u experience the kind of problems that Alex and BigJonx have with their lights? Flashing hi-beam indicator or no HID when high beams are being used?

I have zero problems.

When the stalk is pulled back for Highs, the HID flickers for a split second and stays on as it draws power from the highbeam lead, and the halogen bulb goes on, tho its pointless. I did the HB HID conversion, and the fuse for the high beam blew out 4X each time I tried. It also doesn't help that I had HIDs in my factory fog lights.
I would've posted up earlier, but someone involved w/ 2K2 hype emailed me more than once to stop selling HID kits, that I'm a "sucker" and that I'm full of ****. Believe me it didn't really make me feel good, but I had already done my research on the 2K2 lights before DaveB, even got his shipment in. I currently have the 6000K PIAA D2S HID Burner in the 2K2 housing in my room. I have other surprises on the 2K2 lenses.
Hogan,

How much are the D2S bulbs and will they swap with the 2K2s?
Did you figure out how to get the AMBER lense cover out?

Also, that setup runs too much power over the harness. Heat could eventually cause problems. Dixit will let us know soon.

So your saying you had the 2K2 Headlamps installed FIRST?

Just wondering, because if you did, it would have been nice to know everything was cool before I took the plunge.

I had them in my hands on April 10th. I was given them as a tool for evaluating HID options. I had drooled over the car since I saw the pics in late March.
I was done "evaluating" them by April 12.
I switched back to my stock ones, since the light pattern was better than the 2K2's.
I'm not gonna name anyone, but I was emailed numerous times anonymously to give up HID sales, and lots of trash talk about my car, my car club, and other things in my life. It was a very low thing to do, and put me off to announcing I had got them, and had already done the work. I just hit the point, that I figured out who it was, and am truly disappointed in this person.
I knew the prices were gonna be listed @ $700/side, and I have no idea how many times I posted it up, and I was afraid that no one would take the plunge to pay that amount, luckily DaveB sold a few sets at "lucky" pricing, and I recieved more "hate" mail. I ignored all posts on 2002 HID install, so I had no idea.

So how did you install them withOUT removing the stock clips?

The '01 clips don't work with the 2K2 headlamps. You must have removed them for "evaluating", then installed NEW '01 clips to re-install the '01 housings. Right????

Whats the point ?
So you REMOVED/BROKE the '01 clip inorder to install the 2K2, then you bought a NEW '01 clip to reinstall the '01 headlamps.

Just wondering.

The heat concern is when you have BOTH HIDs and 9005s on for HI-beams. If I understand your setup, you have the 12-Volt wire from the H4 plug powering BOTH bulbs. Right???
