Valve body ?

Can someone who has done the valve body calibration
tell how the swap /replacement went. I know I read the FAQ's on mobiletek but I wanted to hear from the .ORG ppl on their experience.

Also some ppl's spoke about a level 10 tranny is this an equal or more costly mod? which is better?

Thanks

Follow the step-by-step directions and you should be fine.

Save yourself $$$ and just get MobileTek's VB.

Where can I find the info on the VB write up? I've seen other threads before, but I've finally got some money that I put into my car. Any links or addresses would be a great help.

Alright now that I found it, I got a question. Is the valve body a safe modification? I would like to improve my auto trans just like everyone else, but I don't want to do it at the risk of reliability. On mobiletek, it said that it extended the life of an ailing trans, but is this an accurate statement? I do worry about a warranty problem, because the first trans problem I ever have, could they could just blame on it on valve body modification and there goes the warranty. I am more worried about the reliability than the warranty. Anybody with this mod and a good amount of mileage, I would appreciate any kind of synopsis.

Technically, yes, they could blame the VB. However, a properly installed VB EXTENDS the life of a tranny, not shortens.

Has anyone followed the PDF instructions on the site? Are there any gotcha's? How hard/long does the mod take? Is this mod only for the more mechanically experienced ppl?

Good question. As many on this site can tell you, I am on the bottom part of the curve for mechanical experience. And I did it. To take it out, it took about an hour because I was so very careful. Then because mobiletek doesn't have any spare 5th gen cores, you have to mail yours in, wait and get it back. If you work in out in advance with Don, that can be done in 2 days with overnight shipping, but you have to discuss that with him. To reinstall it was the most nerve racking part of it for a novice like me. It is very easy though. The only catch is that you have to rally be coordinated to get the spring back in while lining up the shift linkage part. Then, make sure you follow the torque specifications to the letter. Otherwise you'll bind your tranny. Bottom line is that I did it and I am a idiot about stuff like this. The instructions are great and get you through it.

I'm sorry, I missed something? I thought if you were going to attempt this yourself that wouldn't need to send the core to Don?

From what I understand, Don still does the recalibration. Unless you have the privilege of him coming out to you, you have to take out your valvebody yourself and ship it to Texas and then wait for him to ship it back to you.
