Just go my new 2002 Max!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just got my 2002 MAX and joy it is sweet. Sterling silver. 255horses
I traded the 2000. I don't really see a big difference. There seem to be a different in suspension it is a little more mushy, meaning you don't feel every bump which I liked. Power beyond belief and this is with an auto!!!. Six cd changer, but it seems there is less bass. I will post some pictures later

Welcome to the future with your 2002. I have never driven other than the 2002 maxima. I would like the suspension to be a little stiffer.

ive also noticed thart there are a lot of 02 owners all of a sudden, but id think that they would wait...and buy a 6 spd manual tranny instead of putting out and going for the auto, on the other hand i shouldnt be talking since i jsut bought a 99 se-l and its an auto...oh well....im auto and proud of it

Only about 3% of all Maximas sold are manuals. Remember most new Maxima owners are over 40 yrs of age, just look at the price range of the car. I think BMW has the record with about 25% of 3 series buyers getting the manual tranny. My aunt who lives in Germany (Black Forest) says that people look at automagics over there like most people look at manuals here, not too often.

Yes, I know that the average age of a maxima owner in the U.S. is slightly over age 40, but I'm sure that the average age of maxima owners on max.org is under 30. Most people here and performance orientated, but own autos. The first step to better performance would be a manual car. An exception is Don In Tex. so don't count him.

contradiction

Can you tell me whether the 2002 is noticeable faster or pull better then the 227hp ones? I have heard both yay and nay. Are the gains mostly top end and not at a stop light etc? Do you find in more quiet? I do like the 6 disc CD, HID, steering wheel control.

Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if the average age on the Org is 25 and under.

bootone: Congrats on the purchase! Since you traded in a 2k, did you take a hefty loss or did everything work out nicely?

Big bad I have had my 2k2 for over a month now, my 2k1 was totalled out. the 2k2 is noticeable quicker in all ranges, especially on launch the thing pulls hard in the low rpms. It fels like the tires want to go there seperate ways. My 2k2 is alot quicker than my 2k1 auto was.

`

I think it is noticeably faster at takeoffs. I guess that would be low end torque. I do find the car much quieter and I like the option of seeing mpg and dte(distance till empty).

I did think about getting a manual but I have a 1990 VW jetta that is a 5 sp. This is my luxury car I have not yet stretched it out on the highway or done much city driving yet.

NickStram, you are absolutely right most Max owners are 40 or close to 40, I for one am 36 and want a performance car and that it is manny or auto tranny.

Well I'm 27 and just bought my first Maxima. It's a 2002 fully loaded with 6 speed manual. Delivery date will be mid to late October.

Ah... The waiting game.
