Cleaning the Dash

Ya..what should I use to clean the dashboard. Do they make like armor-all..that is not shiny. I hate armor-all because it makes everything so shiny and greasy. I want something that is going to help protect the dash from the sun.

yep, i found armour all to be too shiny as well. i use meguair's vinyl/rubber treatment (#40 i think) and am very happy with it. clean, but not shiny, uv protection, etc. give it a try.

All I've ever used is a clean damp towel plus a sun shade. This keeps the dash looking orininal with little or no sun damage.
Plus it's cheap

i usually just use a swiffer sheet on the dash to remove the dust. i occassionally use the low-lustre amor all on the vinyl on the doors but tend to leave the dash au natural.

meguairs "shine"

just bought some of this stuff along with a little sponge applicator and this stuff looks really good so far. It cleans and protect's and leaves a good looking finish. I looked for the #40 stuff the other guys are talking about but I could'nt find any. I like this "shine" spray so far.

I like using Black Magic protectant. It is shiny and a bit greasy but lasts longer than Armor All, and won't be washed away by water that easy.

Re: Cleaning the Dash

The dealership actually told me when I first got the car that most dash cleaners are bad for it, just to use a swiffer and ocassionally a slightly damp cloth for spills or whatever else gets on there besides dust *aHeM*

wouldnt trust the dealership...they want to push their own products like Nissan genuine glass cleaner. I think using any protectant, glossy or non-glossy, will increase the life of interior panels big time.

actually...

damage is caused by the plastic 'drying out'. if you use a protectant, you really need to keep protectant on it. I suspect that these products can increase the life of your dash, only if you use them frequently. I've heard that sporadic use can actually induce cracking and dulling.

So I guess there's not a right or wrong, just stick with whatever you decide

also, keep in mind, most of our collective knowledge about what a dash will or wont do is based on older cars... I'd like to think the materials have improved since then.

you know, I have lost any faith in that after my first paint nicks. Nissan does things "differently", by cutting costs for themselves and selling lemons. I got two words for you: Club Minima. Better safe than sorry.
