My First Performance Mod!!
My First Performance Mod!!
I decided to go for it! K&N drop-in filter!
I found the part number on their website.
33-2031-2 for $44.95 +tax.
I just got back from Auto-Zone. I had to go to three stores to get the correct filter.
The first two stores had a box with the right part number but the filter inside had 33-2031-1 on it!
I don't know if it makes a big difference.
But I wanted all the numbers to match with the recommended part.
The guys at Auto Zone were really helpful. They called the 3rd store and had them open the box to make sure it had the right part number and it did.
After I bought it I stopped back by the second store so they could compare the two filters. I couldn't see any difference between the two. But I will sleep better knowing I have the right one baby!

if anyone want's a slightly used one, let me know. I have one that I used for about 2 months before I switched the place racing CAI. I'd say it has about 4k miles on it.

I just installed it and went for a quick run!
It feels maybe a little stronger. Hard to tell.
I don't hear anything new tho.

After everything is said and done I would say the K&N by itself (no oscai) would give 1hp and 1ft/lbs of torque to the wheels. There is no way it give 4-5HP. I've seen dynos on the .org that only showed the 1hp gain. Either way 1hp is better than nothing and you never have to buy another filter again.
