Stereo, trip controls on steering

i got my '02 max and i'm having a dvd player, speakers, ect.. (the works)put in this week--the bose stereo controls are on the steering wheel along with the trip button--does anyone know if there is any way to make these controls work with my (in dash)dvd player?--the shop said they couldn't do it but i wanted to make sure--does anyone have any ideas? i really don't want those buttons to become useless.
thanks a million

There are no known units to date that integrate the steering wheel controls.

actually...

Funny that you ask. I just came from Crutchfield's site and saw this

I don't know if it works though but it's definitely worth a try. I have the same dilemma as you do until (at least) i saw this.

'ALL' includes 2002?

soundmike--

thanks a gabazillion for the link--crutchfield doesn't have any info. on 2002 model cars but it says the thing works for 'ALL' Nissan models--do you think it's safe to assume they are including the 2002 max?

thanks

matt,

noticed that too, i asked them when they could verify if it'll work on a 2002 but they can't say yet and they don't know when they can do such test as (i think) they'll be hard-pressed to get a 2002 max esp since it just came to the market.

i'd like to test it out myself but i won't be putting in a new head unit until around November. sorry

btw, if you don't mind me asking some questions and since you're already doing it could you help me out with these?

1) Did u get 1 DIN or 2 DIN sized components? I wanted 1 DIN (more choices) but i hate how the dash would look "incomplete" and "non-color-coordinated".

2) Are the speaker sizes/locations similar to the 2001? (If you know)

3) What set-up are you getting?

Thanks

- Mike

i got the kenwood dvd player (910 model)with widescreen lcd, kenwood center channel, (f) 6.5" mb quarts, (r) 6.5 infinity kappas, JL 15w3 Sub, kenwood subamp, alpine 4ch amp, kenwood DD/DTS/Pro Logic Processor, and i'm thinkin' of getting the kenwood cd changer if i have any $$ left----the kenwood dvd player is 1 DIN and the kenwood center channel is 1 DIN so it's a perfect fit in the 2 DIN slot--the dvd player will be in the top DIN (the screen covers the mid ac, but it won't be up that often)--the speakers are 6.5" f and r--i'll post pics when i get my seats rewrapped in biracial cow next week

I've spoken to quite a few shops regarding this in the past. If you get an EXTREMELY good shop that goes above and beyond, it can be done. They can open up your new head unit and wire in the steering wheel control to do exactly what you want. As for voiding the warranty on the new head unit, I'd also suggest you find a shop that does warranty/service work on the brand head unit you purchased.

I know, two hard factors, but I do know it is possible if the Crutchfield stuff doesn't work.

(Hehe, whattcha doin with the old headunit?!?)
