2002 6-SPEED's OFFICIAL ROLL-OUT TOMORROW 10-1-2001

Talked to a Consumer affairs representative (Chris something..) and asked when the official release of the 6-Speeds were, since no dealers know when they would get one in, and he says 10-1-2001 monday morning is the OFFICIAL mass Roll-out of 6-speed SE's and he confirmed my order! Guess the dealer got it through in time!

Will your new SE have the LSD? I thought those were on backorder until December.

Congrats!

Helical Limited Slip Differential. It provides superior traction in cornering.

I believe the only other fwd car that came with one from the factory to date was the Integra Type R, and the new SE-R spec V(not out yet).

Does anyone know the skipad or slalom #'s for any '00 and up SE MAX?

Do they handle good? What can they be compared to?!

Thanks, shea

Uh... all the candian Max's have had LSD's for a while. I believe they're more common than you think.

Stereodude,

VLSD was standard on all Max in Canada BUT HLSD was (to my knowledge) only available on Integra Type R. This year (2002 model year) it's available on the SE-R Spec V AND Maxima SE.

BTW, the main reason I got it was for the traction in the snow/ice. Up here, it's gonna be a BIG help.

Yeah dude, major difference between VLSD and HLSD. My '93 SE-R has a VLSD.

Who wants to explain. I poked around on the web and found the HLSD uses Helical gears and the VLSD uses a viscous fluid. What I found also seems to indicate that a HLSD is the same thing as a Quaife, or that a Quaife uses the same method as a HLSD. I was under the impression that this was not the case.

Anyone want to explain or share some links?

How is the HLSD better than a VLSD or the other types?

As I understand it the VLSD requires that a wheel actually start slipping before it can do anything about it, but the HLSD senses the loss in torque before the wheel actually slips. I've found virtually no info on HLSD's on the web. Is it a generic term for a Torsen Differential, or is it something else?

Believe it or not, GM had a torsen diff option for their 'hopped up' quad four vehicles, ie Olds Achieva, pretty sure Buick, too.

I have had a 2002 on order with the dealer for a month but the factory keeps kicking the order out of the system because of the LSD.
The dealer says they will keep ordering it till is available. I want LSD so I will wait.

ILLINOIS!
Sales Tax here is (DuPage County) is 6.75%. Therefore the tax itself would've been around $1700 dollars.

YOU GOT A SWEET DEAL!!

Where are you??!! The best I have found so far has been Carsdirect.com at $26.1K or so with no leather! I don't have to have it, but if I can get it at that price why the hell not. I've still got a few months but I hope I can find some pricing like that when I'm ready!!

No leather means no Bose audio either. I wouldn't trust CarsDirect.com

I would use Edmunds or Carpoint or NissanDriven.com and send request a quote. Make it clear that I do not want any BS. DO not call me with "ifs" and "how about this..." and any such sales tactics.

If you have the car and want to sell it, give me your best price.

ALso, you can try and shop for prices at Carmax. A rule of thumb is that a regular dealer should sell for around $500 less than Carmax.

You can get Bose without getting leather. At least the one with the in-dash 6 disc. You can't cloth and a navigation system.

Some people on another board were saying good things about Carsdirect.com. No problems at all. I have heard about them, as well as Priceline. (Funny thing though. I went to their site and couldn't get on...makes you wonder. LOL) With Priceline you actually put in the amount you want to pay and exactly what you are looking for. Dealers contact you with an offer. If they don't have exactly what you are looking for at that price, you walk away not paying a thing. If so and you change your mind, the fee is $50 or $100. I can't remember exactly. Sounds like Carpoint is about the same.

Carmax's prices seem to be in line, but I can't get a good feel without the actual breakdown of what's on the car. It's sorta spelled out, but not per the exact packages.

Edmunds seems a little off to me sometimes. I'm not crazy about them. Then again, maybe it's just the reviews. I don't know which.

I want a deal like 02 MaximaSE got. Under $27K for everything out the door!!
