My 2000 Maxima SE has rattles all over it, including dash rattles, glove box area rattles, and rear deck rattles. As far as rock solid fit and finish goes, Nissan should be ashamed, given the price of the car. Also, the A/C really is weak comapred to my 96 Pathfinder. While I like the way the car drives, the rattles are really unnacceptable to me. Is this the norm for these cars???????

Actually the only rattle I ever got is from the right A-Pillar. Everything seems ok so far, I hope! The AC is weaker because these new cars are using Non-CFC Freon and you older Patherfinder most likely was using Freon which gets a lot colder faster!

Well....

I guess all Maximas are not afflicted with the dreaded rattles but obviously some are worse than others....soem are rock solid, others are rattle traps.....

Borrowing a quote from TimW "You roll the Nissan dice"

Some of us crap out

My Max is in the shop for the next 2 days having a bit of work done, rattles in the A pillar(passenger), glove box and rear deck lid are SUPPOSED to be addressed. We'll see.

Welcome to the world of Friday builds. I guess rattles are nothing new to Max owners as I have a shooting buddy who has a 98 SE rattle trap.

It sucks, I hear ya.

How are they fixing that A-pillar and rear deck rattles?

I have fixed the A-pillar rattle, by using some foam in that creak.

But the rear deck seems to rattle now when I use my Bose system, not even at loud volume and with the BASS set to lower setting.
Still I can hear some buzzing, rattling sound from rear deck.

Damn this car makes mad. ;(

Nope!!!!!!!!!! 96 Pathfinder uses R-134A, not R-12 (Freon). New maxima just has sucky A/C!!!!!!!!!!!

no, the max A/C will put icicles on you..

you need to take it to the dealer and have them check the 'Freon'. Mine was overcharged from the factory (go figure). they bled (umm, I mean recaptured) about a pound off and my A/C dropped 20 degrees.

oh, dont get me started with the rattles....

Hey Tim...

Does that mean if I just run the AC a bit it will bleed down on itself?(does that sound weird or is it me?)

I'd hate to call the dealer and say "Oh yeah, one more thing" I think he'd take a **** in my back seat if I added that to the list

I have noticed that it takes a bit to cool the car down especailly with the fan on 1 or 2

well...

what happened to me.. as it got hotter, the car cooled less. From 80-102 it basically cooled enough for me to think it was ok, but not great. but when it hit 115 (thats 120-130 on pavement) the cooling just wasnt enough. It started blowing 80 degree air. That actually seemed cool, but not cold. It was obviously messed up. When I called the dealer, they knew exactly what it was as they had seen alot of that, mostly on the trucks and xtrerras tho. They fixed it in 15 mins (no damage to the compressor even after months that way). Then it was blowing 50-something air. brrrrr.

115?

Umm if it ever gets that hot in Massachusetts I think that I'll have bigger probs than my car A/C...holy crap! I don't think it broke 90 for more than a day this summer...really a pretty nice one except it did rain an awful lot...

Anyone else have this done? The bleeding?

I've never really heard it mentioned here...

but the dealer was AMAZINGLY adept at figuring this out and commented how common it is. Really, my max is a meat locker, even when its 115.

My car doesn't rattle at all but my A/C doesn't work really that fast compared to my girlfriends A/C in her 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse. I was thinking because of the lack of CFC's in the A/C.
