Steering wheel controls

Does anyone know if you can install some kind of lighting in the controls on the steering wheel? Stereo and cruise controls are hard to see at night, and I am surprised Nissan never thought of this earlier?

If I am not mistaken, that is why the buttons/controls are various sizes, positions, and heights from each other...to make it easier to find the right control without having to take your eyes off the road at all.

I thought so...
I am kinda disappointed in Nissan though, considering other domestic crap cars like GM Grand Am's have the lighted/illuminated steering wheel controls.

I understand! There are a few things that could be more 'upscale' in our cars, but having driven some higher end cars around, I have found a great many 'upscale' features to detract from attention to the road and other drivers. With time you will get the hang of the controls!!

Enjoy!!!

I have driven rental cars that had steering controls with lights in them. IMHO, they make the steering wheel look like a Christmas Tree. It was more distracting than helpful.

My two cents.

memory

gotta memorize the controls... after getting used to it, you'll have a speedy thumb clicking all over the place.

That's true. I rented a Buick Regal once and the the steering wheel is nothing but radio controls. The buttons were lighted and emmitted some heat...I don't know if it was intentional but it was perfect for the winter.

Wow I just bought a super nice 2003 Maxima GLE, and I thought the lights had gone out on the steering wheel controls. I was coming to this forum to find out how to repair. LOL....I feel much better now that I know that they were never illuminated...
