Tranny swap, auto to stick...

Hey guys, does anyone had news about a Max owner that intend to swap his auto tranny to a stick ?

Anyone knows what happend with the swap ?

I'd like to know if it work out well, cuz I might just go on with this swap next spring, I am targetting a BIG BIG contract with my business, if it happen I just might have a ton of cash to build a really fast super max, again if I got this contract I might have like 30K to put on my max next spring.

Cheers

Hey AznWontonboy, maybe I'm a bit alzeimer, I thought it was a 5th gen. I'm a special effect consultant and I am targeting a contract in the 7 figures, if I'm smart enough to outbid my competitor and get it, my commission is in the 6 figures, so taking 10% of my commission, to build a really sharp max sound fairly reasonable.

I know it sound crazy and perhaps it is, but eh we only have one life to live ( at least in that body ) if you make the calculation, putting up to 30K on my max is not to bad compare to an M5 or Porsche price. Honestly I dont see myself driving those car in our winterland country, plus if I would buy it I would need to buy another car for winter, na. This just might be a dream but if it happen, woohooooo.

Cheers

it can be done apparantly, but it is a big job. Labor is they key. You probably need at least two people working on something like that and if you don't have experience with things like that, it will be tough.....

That's what i was thinking but maybe he has thought of that and maybe the car has a sentimental value. Who knows. Doublea whatever you decide, good luck and tell us about it, also I hope you get this deal. Good Luck!

This seems to be a much smarter route. You would be at a huge advantage off the bat with 255 horses and a 6 speed. Would probably make the depreciation hit on your current max worth it.

Would it be possible to use a non-Maxima transmission in the Max? Per say take a BMW Manual Transmission and find a way to retrofit it into the Max?

Just curious

Don't even try it. Better of just buying an M3.

Hey Y2KMaxGXE-R, I live in montreal, winter here last 5 to 6 months, we get over 10 feet of snow during the winter sometimes even more, driving an M5 in these condition is not a smart choice because of its rear wheel traction, specially in black ice condition, also the resale value of winter driven M5 will be much less. The calcium they put on the street here will damage any steel car over the time. A lot of local M5 owner here drive 4x4 in winter. Audi quattro! nah, not for me. If I spend tha money on my max, then no more winter for my babe and a new 4x4 will follow.

cheers

Hey Burton069, I seriously though of it and nothing is decided so far, I am just exploring option at this moment. I will call my dealer to have a try on a 2k2 SE 6 speeds when they get some. Every option will be considered.

cheers
