Manual Transmission Goes Bad
Well i was driving to work on friday of last week and i was driving normal speed and as i entered 4th gear i heard a loud bang. as result i lost 1st 2nd 4th. i was so mad. so i got it towed to my shop got it on the rack and determined that it was a tranny. so then i tow it to the dealer they had it for 3 days then they call me to tell me that my center force clutch should not be there but he would ignore the fact of the clutch and warranty the tranny! now that mad my day - none of you probably care but i thought i should share it with you guys. so i put a new clutch ( might as well - the tranny is out) then when i get it back i am going to put a short shifter. any way laters - rudy

Ok
SMC is the brand of the shifter. I bought it through www.custommaxima.com for 120 bucks shipped. It is adjustable and easy to install. If you know a muffler shop have it done there. I got to do most of the work and let the muffler guy undo the front 2 bolts on the convertor and everything else is a piece of cake. 30 minutes later you are done.

I wonder why the dealer said the center force clutch wasn't supposed to be there... why not, clutch is clutch, unless they were going to pull a that clutch is better, it holds better, (maybe more durable), it won't slip as easy, so that's why your tranny blew, because the clutch didn't give as much... hehe but glad you're getting a new ( nissan calls it rebuilt) tranny under warranty... (right?)
