Leather or Cloth in 2K2

Looking for suggestions on getting either Leather or Cloth in the 2K2 SE I'm about to buy. Cost matters but not as much as what I'll be satified with.

Thanks !

If you're debating, then you should get leather. If you don't, you might regret it later on.

Re: Leather or Cloth in 2K2

Depends on your personal preferences...if you don't like hot seats in the summer (the only issue I have with leather, even though I bought it) go with the cloth. For colder temps, with either, I would spring for heated seats.

it's really personal preference. If cost and availability is not a factor, than go with leather. If you go with cloth, you can still get aftermarket leather later on....

Leather is easier to clean as well. As long as you treat it with conditioner at least a few times a year. I personally clean and condition once a season or areas that are needed.

I have to go with the cloth. Cost is an issue, but getting all options except for leather and Nav. makes the car affordable. I have never had leather, so will not know what I am missing.

I would have to say cloth, my 3rd gen had leather and with the southern 100+ degree summers it just wasn't comfortable for me, thats why I have cloth in my 98. If i get another maxima and had to have leather, I would still buy the car with cloth to keep the cost down and add aftermarket leather later on, leatherseats.com leather seat covers definitely seem to be better quality than the 4th or 5th gen seats i've seen. Although the 2k2 seats might be better.

The problem is....if you want the goodies...sunroof, bose system, ect.. you usually have to get leather. Maximas usually come fully loaded...or with nothing at all. I guess you could special order whatever you want...but you will have to wait!

I got the "goodies"...Sunroof and Bose system and cloth...to get the really fancy Meridan package needs the leather though..
The leather killed me and I just drove it for a test drive.
I really dont like sweating while driving even with the AIR on so. It really is a matter of preference.
Cheers

Yuck!

Am I the only one that thinks the perforated leather looks like junk!? I had to rent a stratus a while back and it had that perforated poopskin and it just looks cheap! It looks ok on the steering wheel but not on the seats.

Leather definitely. Better looking, better smelling, easier to maintain, better resale.

As for the heat, I live in Florida and still prefer the leather - its not like the old shiny leather that'll burn you lol!

Of course, maybe I'm used to the heat since I have black on black. Looks awesome!

Hey Maxatlast, I'd say go for leather, since it will last much more longer and also the seats will better keep it shape over time, I guess it will also have a better value. My last 3 car were 2 max and a Pathfinder all with leather and I was totally satisfied. That was my 2 cents.

cheers

Maybe its the black leather,, but it looks like VINYL, feels like it also.
I LEXOL it everytime i wash my car.. but it just looks kinda ghetto.
I wish there was something other than cloth or leather. Denim seats??

Re: Re: Yuck!

AndyXXL, is your leather from Stillen? Looks good. I'd use a similar color scheme since my Maxima is black with frost interior.

One of my regrets about my car is not getting leather. Of course, it's the fall now and the hot and humid Houston summer is past, so I've already forgotten how nasty hot leather feels in that kind of weather. So unless you don't mind blasting your AC in the summer and running the heat to warm the seats in the winter (ie lower gas mileage), leather is good. Of course, the 2K2 has remote window roll down, which helps. Maybe if you get an automatic and add aftermarket remote start, you can cool off your car before you get in it.

Get the leather heated seats( Meridian Edition ). Cold seat problem solved.

So the door trim and other areas are still cloth? That's one thing I don't like about aftermarket, it doesn't cover everything

No, I got perforated silver leather door inserts too, they were $25 a piece.

Definitely get the leather along with all the reasons that others have listed it also makes a car classier, I think. plus if later you get sick of the seats you can always put in a couple of Recaro racing seats and that way you can keep swapping them every time you get bored/annoyed of one.

Cloth or leather?

I have an 01SE with the "sport-cloth" and I like it a lot. It grips your pants better during agressive driving. I know the 02 leather is different than the 01 and personnally I like the 01 leather better. I think that they changed the cloth for 02, but I haven't seen it. Don't get me wrong, the leather is sweet. But I really like the cloth and the $1,700 in my pocket.

Go with the leather, it makes the car feel so much more classy and chicks dig that.

Re: Re: Yuck!

I like the perforation, OEM or otherwise, both from the looks standpoint to say nothing of a seeming comfort bonus due to better ventilation of air through the seat surface itself...seems to contour to the body better than a solid piece of leather.
