yesterday after coming back fromm class and some pretty hard accelerating and stopping i parked in the garage. i heard the usually clicking and stuff from the engine cooling down, but then i heard a louder clanking sound coming from under the car, i think it was near the catalytic converter or near there, it was pretty noticeable. im wondering what this is, should i be worried, or if any of you guys have a problem with it. should i take it to the dealer, its never happened before and im worried. thanks for your help.

 

could it just be the exhaust cooling down? Was it super loud?

 

if it keeps on doing that then get it checked out, but it probably wasn't anything bad

 

it was coming from the front of the car on the bottom, right near the cat, the flex section part. its not really loud, just a distinct metallic clicking noise. i just drove my car around again today, and later when i shut it off. no noise, is it because i pushed my car hard the other day, did i do damage to it? thanks.

 

I think its just the exhaust cooling off and contracting... nothing to worry about really....

yeah, the exhaust makes metallic clicking noises when you shut the car off... mine does it also....

 

me too. so does my 4th gen. it seems the harder i drive my car and park it, the louder it gets... or maybe its my imagination...

 

i noticed that the harder i drive the car, the more noises it makes after i shut it off, many different clicks and clacks. thanks for the help. at least i know im not alone.
