What year is his? It will make a difference cause the ones before the redesign were really freakin slow. You will beat a newer one ok and kill an older one. Good luck.

my friend has an 2000 auto v6, and we kept even until about 40 (bad launch, too much wheelspin), and then i pulled away from her pretty fast.

My friend has a 99 v6 mustang 5 speed with MAC CAI, H pipe, Dual flows, no cat, and some other bs mods.
He beat me once.
That's when he went on the first honk and not the third.
But they are pretty slow. My friend with a stock neon 5 speed beat him.

definitly race him.. You will kill him for sure!!!!!!!!!! So many people think just because its a "mustang" that its fast..and if you do lose then your maxima isnt runnin correct.

it's an auto(unless it's 5speed), heavy, inefficient drive train with very restrictive intake manifold(which Ford finally figured out and fixed it for latter year cars..even on the Cobras..)...

hmmm...i have an idea...give it a little twist..try launching in reverse gear, fish tail your car and catch up to him(or her)?

screw the V6...bring on the Cobra

I ran dead even with a Cobra from that model of mustang, so if you don't beat the V6 I'm gonna send my guys over and take your maxima away from you.

Have him put it in drive ...... then back you max up to the line and race him in reverse .... you should still win.

no way...i mean, i wish you ran dead-even with a cobra..but..that can't have been a cobra...or maybe the driver didn't know what the heck he was doing....

none of the Accord V6 guys have ANY trouble beating V6 Stangs, new, old, stick, or auto with us stock or modded, so no Maxima should have any trouble at all.

I personally made a fool out of a newer V6 Mustang that was riced out with Cobra badges on the highway a month or so ago!

Check it out HERE if you're bored.

I swear it was a Cobra

from everything I could tell it was....correct badging, sounds, everything...and there's no way it was a GT cause I can smoke those. Another thing that makes me believe that was the look on the drivers face when I pulled up next to him and told him a Maxima just ran his a$$ down all the way up to 130.

In your sig: you have the stock 17" wheels? cause those are big tires. Also, the new cobras are incredibly fast, 0-60 4.8; 1/4 13.5 @ 105 MPH now thats fu(kin fast!

A 94 Mustang V6 automatic? Ummm, the word rape comes to mind. He's smoking some serious **** if he honestly thinks he'll beat you. I agree with the others. Race with your car in reverse to make it even, and that way you can stay friends with him too. After racing my friend's Firebird V6 with my latest mods, I hardly ever hear from him anymore...Maybe he meant having you on foot versus his Mustang...

the cobra

It was about a 95 or 96 Cobra, not the new one...it also could have been an slushbox??? I know it wasn't a riced out V6 or GT though

Cobra

There is no such thing as an automatic Mustang Cobra since the 90's. Even the 95's will run very low 14's to high 13's. The only excuse could have been the guy had no idea how to drive or was in the wrong gear or not racing you!

As for the 94 auto, don't be too happy if you beat them, a 5 spd altima (4cyl) would beat them.

As for the 99+ 5 speeds, motor trend tested one against a v6 camaro, and it turned a 7.0 0-60 and 15 flat quarter mile at 90+ mph, so it is very similar to our 2000+ 5spd Maxima's. It would probably come down to driver skill.
