2K max w/mods or 2K2 Audi S4??
This is a question I am debating now, I will have to make sime sacrifices to be able to buy the Audi but it just looks so good and is quick (twin turbo). I guess that I have just grown fond of my max!

Re: 2K max w/mods or 2K2 Audi S4??
Of course the 02'S4 if u have the means. Its a much better car in every way except it isnt as roomy as the max. And an S4 with a chip gives it 300hp with 300+ibds of torque that can blow away almost all cars with 4 drs, even maxs with SCs will be collecting dust.
I have an A4 1.8t and a Max SE both 2000 models and the A4 has a chip and an exhaust, The A4 "feels" faster but the max might be a little quicker. But the S4 is a whole different animal, it can challenge new M3s and C32s with a chip and a exhaust.
In a word, GET THE S4!!!!!!!!!!!!!=)

I believe the 2k2 S4's will have 280 horses now and with the chip, be well above the 310 mark with chip and a few mods. Personally, I would go with the S4...who wouldnt? heh. I plan on trading in my max and putting some money down for a S4 in the next 3-4 years

I say S4. Or go with a 2K2 6spd Max. Lower it, rsb, fstb, tires, 18's, intake, y-pipe, greddy, Stillen Body Kit, and a 50 shot of rice juice (until a SC comes out). That would be one fast Max and still cheaper than an S4. Lets put it this way a stock Altima 5spd 3.5L would be even with an S4 on the highway easily!

Re: 2K max w/mods or 2K2 Audi S4??
I guess that I'm the lone dissenter, but it's too much money.
While I'm a huge fan of the S4, it's a bit cramped. I might start with the A6 2.7T as a base to mod.
Also, a "comparably equipped" S4 is $13K more than a 2K2 Max SE.
($43K vs $30K)
We all know that Nissan generally offers deep discounts on cars, while I can't imagine the S4 going for much less than MSRP.
For $13K, you get to start off with all the mods you already have, transferred to the new car, then go all out with stuff like the NZ headers/y-pipe + SC + custom exhaust, coilovers, big brakes, rims, etc, etc etc. You could then sell off your "old" mods and stock 2K2 parts
Would you rather have a _fully_ modded 2k2 max + $5K (_minimum_) or a stock S4 (which would probably be _slower_ than that Maxima)?
Of course, you could save even _more_ money by just continuing to mod the 2K max instead. Not as fast for sure with the 3.0L vs 3.5L, but you're probably way upside down now. It would probably still take out a (stock) S4 (if you add a Quaiffe + motor mounts to your mods list .

People think it is that easy? How does the tranny and clutch handle these mods? How does Audi feel about modding a car under warranty??

turbo upgrades over 500hp.

The ECU upgrade from TAP, is undetectable by the dealer unless they pull your ecu (very unlikely). You can even switch between 3 different programs with the cruise control stalk and lock it with a code. Valet- wont rev above 4k, Stock, Performance.
The turbo upgrade is very noticeable.
The 6 speeds can handle 500 hp easily.
The auto's hold the 320 hp fine, never saw anyone try any more.

I do belive it's easy...putting a chip and intake/exhust on can't be that diffficult.
How would a Maxima handle that much power and how does Nissan feel about modding a car under warranty?
