CV boot protector

Do you guys put anything on the boots to preserve the rubber or whatever grade of material it is? Lots of talk on the caliper pin sleeves, but can't find anything on the cv boots. Not worth it? Not recommended? Any viewpoints? Will it prevent the cracks and splits that occur w/ age?

Thanks.

I've used both ArmorAll and silicone spray over the years, but I can't prove if either has extended the life of the boots. ArmorAll definitely makes the boot more "slippery"........maybe it makes the neoprene more pliable??

Is this failure to the point of throwing grease or just that you've noticed minor cracking? If you've had boots fail within such a short time as 6 mos. then something ain't right. I'm assuming it's the outers that are failing? Cracks/splits at the bottom of the convolutes, or rips or tears in other areas caused by foreign objects? I can't recall off hand, but could a missing exhaust heatshield/nonstock exhaust "cook" the RH inner, if by chance that's the one that has failed again. The inners should last forever. OR what happened to me many years ago at a tire store.......sabotage.....a knife blade.

I just started hosing mine down with Silicon Spray - although they are still in pretty good shape.
I dunno if this will work, but it CERTAINLY can't hurt!!
This is precisely what this stuff is DESIGNED to do....!

Why use anything? if the quality of the axle is good you dont need anything. Dont be cheap and buy good parts like raxles
