None of the FAQs seem to be working and I have a question

I looked through the FAQs because I need to find out what code or codes is causing my CEL light to come one. There are a few links in the FAQs about my problem , but they all lead to useless threads having nothing to do with my problem. Some even link to threads outside this subforum. I also tried searching and couldn't figure out how to check the CEL codes whatsoever.

So, does anyone know how to check the CEL codes on a 2k2 Maxima?

Thanks.

To be honest, you could probably save some time and head to AutoZone and have them read the codes.

Trying to get them on your own (w/o an OBDII reader) it's a little tedious and the codes are very difficult to decipher.

Well then I have two questions for you.

1: Is there any OBDII reader software for a laptop?

2: Do you know how to read the codes without the OBDII reader? I'm curious as to how it would be done.

Auterra/UpRev/AutoEnginuity/HarrisonR&D to name a few. Not to mention those cheaper AutoZone units that do not require a laptop.

How to Set Diagnostic Test Mode II (Self-diagnostic Results)
1. Confirm that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch “ON” and wait 3 seconds.
2. Repeat the following procedure quickly five times within 5 seconds.
1) Fully depress the accelerator pedal.
2) Fully release the accelerator pedal.
3. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 10 seconds until the MIL starts
blinking.
4. Fully release the accelerator pedal.
ECM has entered to Diagnostic Test Mode II (Self-diagnostic results).
Read what the code means here.

FYI, codes are not car specific...all OBDII cars have the same codes

1. go to autozone
2. get code
3. google code

But the way Nissan makes them blink. ,.... My blinker fluid must need to be changed because the blinks never make sense.
