jackhammer type noise from front passenger side of car...need help ASAP

whas good everyone
i was drivin my max to school today and noticed a jackhammer type noise coming from the front passenger side of the car
i believe it has to do with the wheel
the thing is, when i accelerate, theres no noise, but when i let go of the gas it sounds like someone is usin a jackhammer like 50 feet away and theres a squeaking sound coming also
this only happens when im cruising and braking
while accelerating or taking a corner, theres no noise

can anyone please help me out with this situation?
i got 3 exams tomm and i need the car to get to school
dont wanna end up stranded

i appreciate any and all help

EDIT: its only when im driving in a straight line, not when turning or taking corners
thanks in advance

have you taken the wheels off and inspected the suspension/brake assembly visually to make sure a caliper bolt isn't loose, or a CV boot isn't torn?

Check your oil - I recently had a similar noise which was probably engine related because of low oil

you could be getting a misfire on one of the cylinders, have you replaced your coils yet. Also it sounds very similar to a bad wheel bearing, to check raise the passenger side of your car up, grab the front wheel at the top and bottom and push up and down if the wheel moves then you need a new wheel bearing. You can also take the wheel off, remove brake assembly, remove axle nut, loosen bottom of strut, now you can take the axle out and look at the wheel bearing better this is the best way in my opinion to check it, if you know what your doing this shouldnt take more then half hour to do.

wheel bearing, had the same symptoms as you. Try this... accelerate and then let off the gas, let it start banging, push in the clutch and It will stop.

instead of pushing the clutch pedal shift into neutral. If the banging goes away while in neutral it's the bearing. I did my bearing at stealership because I didn't have access to a press at home.

From: Auburn WA,
Check your brake caliper, if one of the caliper bolts came loose your caliper may be hiting the wheel. Usually it's enouph to make you stop driving though. Other than that just take the wheel off and tighten every bolt you see in the suspention and brakes to start off.

Good luck

I had this happen awhile back in my old camry. I had taken it to have the brakes done, and they overtightened a caliper bolt and the next day it broke while I was driving. It sounded like someone was holding a jackhammer on the frame, the car shook and the noise was insane anytime I would touch the brakes or start slowing down. good luck, hope this helps.

usually when your wheel bearing is bad it will make noise even when you turn. A bad wheel bearing will generally have the sound of a old perpellar(sp) airplane when driving strait or turning 1 direction, and the noise will go away when turning the opposite direction. This is the usual symptom of a wheel bearing and I did have this problem about 2 months ago. I've replaced every FE component of my car recently which helps. Not saying it isn't possible, but test it driving. the faster you go the louder it gets, turn one way it gets louder and the other it goes away. Start there if you think its the bearing. And no you cannot do this yourself unless you are very mechanically inclinced and have a press. The bearings ont he max are pressed in and while they are cheaper then replacing the whole hub its more time consumming and requires specific tools.

dont worry about the other side going out soon... this is rare with our sealed bearings. MAKE SURE THE AXLE NUT STAYS ON AND TIGHT. mine backed off and cause me to have to replace the wheel bearing twice. basically if that nut backs off you are screwed. did you have it done at the dealer? i take it you did since they replaced the hub.
