Tint on Grey Lustre...

So i just picked up a 02 Gray Lustre max after my Tungsten Blue was totalled. I had 35% all the way around on that one and being as it was a lighter color it looked a lot darker and ive been pulled over once before in my old max due to tint. Now since my current is darker i was thinking about going 20% all around. I know some of you might say visibility at night might be an issue, but i think i can live with it. So i just want to see what my options are as in look before i actually get it done. I've looked throw the members rides and great picture thread but not too many gray lustre on the org. thanks fellas.

EDIT: i spelled gray wrong in the title.

I've had 20% on my old lexus and it looked a little light but thats because I had a tan interior, it all depends on your interior

thanks for posting up the pics. if thats 35%, it seems really light for some reason. it looks like a good balance though. i dont really HAVE to have my windows at 20% but i wanted to see some comparisons. It looks pretty good. oh i have frost as well.

sometimes the tint seems much darker than others.. it is really dependant on the ambient light. most of the time it is a little bit darker looking than that

I've got 28% tint...

28% Mainly because the shop will still cover it under lifetime warranty. Also was paranoid of cops that wanna give tint tickets

35% is fine it really depends on ambient light, viewing angle...and interior. 35% will always look lighter on a car with tan interior.

Wow...I brought my car with the tint on, so I have no idea how dark are they. But compare the photo, I think mine is just around 35%.

^ That's exactly how I want my car to look when I get the tint done.
I also have a black on black GLE.

On Topic: I think the 35% would look good on the gray car. Going to dark takes away from car IMHO.

this is mine w/ 20%...

it looks a lot darker in the picture because of the viewing angle.

*Edit- the picture quality also sucks..cuz i took it w/ my phone

I think 20 percent is perfect i had that on my first max and it was dark enough during the day and you could still see at night, compared to my 5 % now hehe

20% is straight... exactly what I have on my car now. No problems seeing at night. With your frost interior it will look a little lighter.

Your real issue is whether or not cops will pull you over because of it. I really don't have to worry about here in FL.

my main concern are the cops here. i live in fairfax county and the cops here are really **** about certain things. like i said i got a verbal warning in my tungsten blue max for 35% but i think that was due to the color of the car because it was a lighter color and the tint stuck out more. i think im going to go 20% with mine. ill post up some pics once i get it detailed and tinted. thanks for all your help/suggestions guys.

I had 20% all around on my grey lustre,

but combined with my black interior. i was pulled over 3 times in a month, and got a ticket every time. there is people out there that dont have the bad luck or whatever you may call it, its a risk you take, but after my third one, i just took off the front window tint completely. I miss it a little bit, but i payed more for the tickets than for the tint job.

something to think about

20% is definately good if you have the frost interior. I'll probrably be around the same as my 28% once installed.

Best of luck and hope you enjoy the new Max!

5% tint so you cant seem up in my windows...jk I bought the car from a state cop who had 5% tint. I also got a ticket for it when I got pulled over for no tag that I'll be attending this Nov 20th.

I love our color tho here is mine. I want to change to the Mercedes blue...not sure how it would look tho...

Jess I also love the way your tint came out. Nice!

i've completely removed my tint....the beautiful tan leather interior looks wonderful thru the clear glass.... i'm loving my car's natural beauty looks without tints... although i'm thinkin about putting in 35% or something more subtle that wat used to be on there.
