This guy is selling an 01 Maxima and claims it has a 6 speed stock! I thought only 02-03 Maximas with the VQ35 came with the 6 speed. I emailed him to ask if the tranny and headlights had been swapped since he claimed it had hid headlights as well. He admitted making a mistake about the headlights, but insisted that the tranny was indeed a 6 speed and hadnt been swapped, as he was a nissan mechanic and should know. Is this BS or were a limited # of the 01s made with 6 speeds?

I guess he is probably counting the reverse as a gear, which technically is not wrong...

 

No 2000-2001 came with a 6 speed (6 forward gears) from the factory. Get the VIN and call Nissan USA, they will tell you exactly what it came with from the factory.

Also, we all know that this statement is untrue most of the time.

 

^ Funny thing is, that interior shot of the center console/headunit looks like an 02/03 gear shift... He really needs better shots of the car from different angles, as none of the photos are clear enough or show the important angles.

Unless it was swapped, it's still a 5-speed.

The wiper stalk looks like 00-01... and not 02-03 where they are a lot more bulky. Pay attention to the CD player as well as it's not the 5.5 gen style.

Everything points to it being a 5th gen, not a 5.5. It does not have the 5.5 17" rims, looks to have smoked tails, no HIDs, non 5.5 radio.

the did actually come out with some 2001's with the 6 speed, i remember reading somewhere that they produced some in late 01 with the 6 speed... let me see if i can find the site again...

3. Nissan will tell you what the car with from the factory
4. ???

Yes, those are called 2002 model years.

My car is a 2002 and it was made in 2001, but that's not the point. The auction is saying that there exists a "stock" 2001 model year with a DE-K and a RS6F51 tranny. I don't think so, if not, that must be a collector's item.

 

 

If indeed the 3.0 01 came with a 6 speed factory, that guy would be touting it as RARE.
