Strange Noise - Help Identify

I just started noticing this noise/problem. I was driving home late last night and I noticed that when I was cruising above 15mph and then barely turn the wheels left or right an odd noise would come from under the dash/steering column area. I would describe the noise as kind of a buzz or grind and I could slightly feel a vibration through the steering wheel when it happened. I stopped and then turned the wheel left and right and the noise was gone. So it only happens when the car is in motion. Oddly enough, when I got up for work today it made the noise again, but when I left for my lunch break, the noise was gone. I was thinking that the noise could be temperature related. Because last night and this morning when I heard it, it was colder outside. When I left for lunch, the temperature outside was much warmer. What could be causing this noise? Any thoughts, thanks.

The car has 99,000 miles. What do I need to check for at the cv joint?

Okay. Here is an update to my situation. I have found out that the only time the noise is present is when I have the heater on. When I turn the heater off, the noise is gone. When I have the heater on, I can clearly hear the noise when I turn the steering wheel a tad to the left or right while in motion. It's almost a gargling sound or bubbling sound. The noise isn't there when I am driving straight, only when the steering wheel is moved. Ghostly, huh?

my blower motor makes a grinding noise sometimes, like it's hitting the wall of the housing while rotating
but if you say it's on driver side, then that's not it

It's definitely not the blower motor, because it's coming from the drivers side, maybe even outside of the vehicle. It's so hard to tell. Trying to see if anyone else had this problem.

Thank you, I will check those two things.

How much did it cost you to get your CV joints replaced?

Well, unfortunately I haven't had a chance to get a jack out and look under the car yet.

But I have noticed that the noise gets louder when I accelerate and move the wheel a little to the left or a little to the right.

What does a bad CV joint sound like?

Problem fixed. It turned out that one of my axle nuts backed off and destroyed my wheel bearing. All of that noise was caused by a toasted wheels bearing. Thanks for everyones advice.
