What to expect in repairs

I have a 2k with a 5speed and have a few questions. I have not had any major problems with my max yet but from what i have been reading, people start to have major problems. Engine coils, MAF ( i knew that one) they will have the electronics fail , etc. I am just wondering if I should be worried at all. I do notice my car sometimes dies on startup but it is a very intermittent problem. Should i be worried that I will need to put $1000s into it? I have owned nissans before and never really had a problem but after reading the owner reviews...it made me think twice...

You're a car owner. Cars require preventive maintenance. And if something unexpectedly "happens" to it, you have to take care of it. If you don't have a warranty, you need to be prepared to put "$1000s" into it. That's the way it goes. A Maxima isn't any different from another car.

they are fine cars. all cars need routine maintenance. things break. they are more reliable then many cars out there. i honestly wouldn't stress about it and everyone else will tell you the same. i'v owned 5 different maximas and have had just normal things wear.

ok because when i saw people were spending 1000s it made me a little uneasy. I have an infiniti g20 and have only put like $400 into it and it runs like a champ so i thought if i would have to pay 1000s to keep my max...i might just get another g20

I have a 2k 5-speed with almost 126,000 miles, and it has taken really minor repairs. I've done a wheel bearing, a CV axle (which was a casualty of the wheel bearing), an O2 sensor, a coolant flush and an injector flush, as well as of course tires and oil change. I've owned the Max for about 2.5 years and that's all pretty minor, typical stuff that has to be replaced. I'd say outside of maintenance I've spent maybe $500 on it? I think it's a pretty darn reliable vehicle as far as those that I've owned, and I'm very happy with it, maintenance and large repairs.

a coil will cost u from $60-75 each depending where u get it
MAF will cost u around $80

replace each coil when necessary, not all at once and you'll save some
