simple Intake question

I decided after hearing a maxima with an intake that it's louder than I want so I'm going with just a drop in K&N or something. First question is cool blue or any other brand better/worse second I would also like to replace the piping from the MAF to throttle body was size is that 2.75? I'm assuming since that's what the Altima intakes on ebay are showing, I'd probably buy the cheapest one I can take and just use the upper pipe and sell the rest to somebody local so they can put it on a neon or anything else that a local retard with some PVC would do.

Two questions: Piping size and drop in filter differences. I did search and found nothing Maxima specific so I figured somebody might know more about it and maybe tried different ones. And yes your correct not an organized post because I'm in a meeting and posting when nobody is looking cause I'm bored at work.

Neither, using stock airbox but replacing the piping between the MAF and throttle body and then adding either a K&N drop in filter or a Accell Cool Blue or some other K&N competative brand, depending on feedback I get from people.

I'm not wasting anybodies time if you've got nothing better to do than respond with stuff like that.

ohh i see.. in that case do the GAB also or the OSCAI

K&N i would trust the most for a drop in filter

sooner is notorious for flaming so don't mind him
all questions that are previously answered and asked again by anyone will have a response from him
but i'm not gonna find the answers for you either
just a note: k&n oiled filters may help kill your MAF faster

The same reason you would replace it with any other intake to smooth the flow and replace the intake mufflers.

In changing that pipe out, your going to see a gain of somewhere around zero.
Just drop the K&N in and be done with it.

Oh, and a properly oiled K&N will not destroy your MAF.

well then, you might as well take out the stock intake, put that piping in and attach http://www.cardomain.com/item/FUJF5300S to it.

Thank you that's kind of what I'm looking for. Can you explain the pics a little better. I'm assuming that's a K&N drop in with the piping replaced, AFC, and something can't make out the second pic. What else is done when it was dyno'd?

Seems as if the members who tested it back to back cannot see much gains. I still stand by it for throttle response etc.

Let’s see who can figure this out:

Lower #'s: TS, CM-b/H, GAB, 52.5lb/corner wheels, modded IM, 91 OCT.

Higher #'s: TS, SAFCII, LRMAF, Stillen POP, CM-b/H, LSS-TP, 37.5lb/corner wheels, modded IM, 91 OCT.

Case in point, it's not a good comparison, BUT, my point was that those 3 items coupled together are dyno proven. I don't have my runfiles with me, but there are graphs of mine floating around here showing similar comparisons where, you don't need an intake to show gains. <-- That was the real point.

I was thinking about puttin an CAI but some mechanics are saying they're not good for the engine. I just replaced my MAF sensor at 130K miles and I heard the oil from the intakes mess up the MAF sensor. But it seems like there are many people uses INJEN CAI, etc.

So, I just want to know if it would shorten the life of the engine, other air flow parts etc.

Point:

1.) Find a new mechanic
2.) Hang out here
3.) Read A LOT
4.) Learn
5.) Profit
6.) ????
7.) Know more than your mechanic so he doesn't rape you.
