Why does the new Altima get dual exhaust and we don't?

Dual exhaust looks great on most cars

But the Max has a narrow rear and looks kind of strange with dual exhaust. I've seen some 5th-gen Maximas with dual exhaust and they look like they're too close together. It would look better if you move the stock one outwards a little, then add the second one with a custom B-pipe.

One of the guys on this forum has dual exhaust on his 4th or 5th-gen. Can't remember who it is. I'll see if I can find him.

Shouldn't be impossible, just have to get a custom b-pipe that splits off from the y-pipe to two mufflers\exhausts. You also have to find a way to hang it, which I don't think would be too difficult.

Cool, I've seen those pics before, but never seen a 5th gen with dual exhaust. I'm going over to American muffler this weekend and will find out.

Supras have single exhaust, and they can beat the crap out of most cars that have 4 exhausts (two cans, four tips). Personally, i love dual exhausts, but not on the Maxima. Body is too lean for it.

thats not a true dual exhaust... true dual exhaust is straight from the engine i believe. (someone correct me if im wrong). and i thought RBA dual exhaust was photshopped...

Even though it were possible, I don't think it's a smart thing to do cause you'll be losing alot of back pressure!.... I think there is one third gen that had it done. Don't know if he's still around....

Someone posted about how they dropped the exhaust from the cat back and it gained 1-3 VERY noisy horsepower. He concluded there wasn't much horsepower to be gained by any catback system. I think if you had dual B-pipes and mufflers off a single cat you would have somewhat the same backpressure if not more than without a catback.

I'm not sure if he noticed if there was a torque loss though, so you may be correct that you lose some bottom-end grunt.

Back-pressure smack-pressure, the 5th gen looks kinda silly with the dual exhaust, even in RBa's photoshop pic. Maybe if you used smaller mufflers and tips it would look better.
