I was at some Nissan dealership, and the leather seats in a lot of the GLE's('95 - '98) were cracking and looking old. Does the leather in the Maxima GLE begin cracking and looking old after several years, or can it remain looking new for a long time? Can anyone suggest a good way to take care of the leather? Thanks.

Lexol

I have used Lexol in other cars, and it seems to keep leather interiors in fairly good shape. Not enough history on my Max to know yet...

Leather Care Quick Answer

Leather will crack and look crappy if it is not maintained. It needs to be cared for on a regular basis, and only then will it continue to look great. I use Lexol leather cleaner AND Lexol leather conditioner, which is important to restore the vital oils in the leather and avoid cracking. I'm sure most everyone else here will concur.

I concur. I use both Lexol cleaner and conditioner. My personal opinion is to never get a combination cleaner/conditioner product. I read the posts and bought LExol for use from Day 1 with my max, but my wife has a 96 v-6 accord with leather seats. Hers have been looking old for awhile and we thought (our first leather interior) that it was just due to age (previously used Armor All cleaner/conditioner). I used the lexol cleaner and conditioner on it and after about 5 treatments, the leather looked fantastic. We now use it in her car to maintain. Just my little testimonial.

Where do you buy the Lexol cleaner and conditioner. I live in ABQ, NM & haven't been able to find any.

Thanks!

I'm not sure if they have Pep boy stores out there but that's where I purchased my Lexol. Maybe a store in the area can do a special order for you...anything is possible.

You can try http://www.autobarn.com They have it, search for Lexol. If you order over $50, you get free shipping too! Get the vinylex protectant for non leather surfaces also!

I saw it in either Pep Boys or Target or Wal-Mart. I think it may have been Target.
