Analog speedometer sticking...

...it sticks at about 49 MPH. After it sits overnight it works fine for a while
then does it again. Anybody have experience with this problem? 2000 Max.

Thanks,

Bill

In any respect, take a photograph at multiple angles of your current mileage on that speedometer (and keep it in a box). That way, if someone raises a flag about the disparity in mileage, you have a record that you replaced the cluster at X mileage with a new (or used) cluster at Y mileage.

when you replace the cluster you have the dealership set the correct mileage

I thought Dave B sets the mileage for you?

can't the dealer tell the real milleage by pluging it to the computer ?

Or even taking it to the yearly inspections ?

no the dealership cannot, the CPU just says +1 mile or such the Speedo actually keeps record of the milage... and YES Dave B can set the milage for you but you should keep pics of the old tach for milage reference...

My dealership won't replace the odometer if you provide your own, you must buy the part from them, they will of course set the miles and give you a warranty period for it.

There are several speedometer shops that can fix it for you. Look in the phonebook or google. You take it out and ship/bring it to them, they fix it and ship it back.
