hello all, i havea 2003 maxima and was wondering what the org's adive and thoughts on taking out the resonator would be... i dont want to spend that much money on making my exhaust sound better, but i wish that i change it wit out to much rasp, and havea deep flow to it. does anyone have a sound or videoclip of what im trying to look for? this would be great help. once again dont want to change anyhting about my exhaust and take out the resonator heard this woudl make the exhaust have a new and deep sound... thank u before hand for all comments that i recieve

Your cheapest and best bet is to get a Flowmaster 40 series muffler to replace the factory one, leave the resonator alone. Chekc the last 2-3 pages of the exhaust compilation sticky.

 

I honestly wouldn't hesitate removing the resonator and leaving the stock muffler, I removed mine and put a magnaflow muffler on, sounds nice. My brother had a resonator on his 02 altima with dual magnaflows and it sounded stock-ish which is a waste in my opinion.

 

The Cattman Exhaust Sounds Great and you'll pickup some ponies! Or on the cheap... Install a hi-flow Cat, and cut out that flat portion of pipe just aft of your resonator and let your local muffler replace with a straight section!

 

keeping the stock muffler will quiet down the exhaust a lot. so if you opt to keep the muffler, removing the resonator will increase the noise of your exhaust, but it won't be as loud as a typical catback exhaust.

 

Keep the resonator, it takes out any raspy sound.

 

I had my exhaust redone and all i added to it was a magnaflow straight flow bullet style muffler (turbo style) in place of the stock one. IT has a nice tone and will only run ya about $60 without welding
