Odometer light not working

My odometer is working fine in my 01 SE, but the light in it only works maybe 5% of the time( for night use). Also sometimes the whole right side of my gaudges dont light up. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

Check the bulbs... have you replaced them??
I had replaced mine with LED's for some reason the same thing would happen intermittently. I switched them back to a blue conventional bulb... No Problems... 3 months and counting.
I am not sure if they were the incorrect voltage or what.

Yeah I was thinking about changing the bulb, but it does work every once in awhile (usually when I pull into my schools parking garage and my lights automaticly come on).

I have the same exact problem as you Eastern. I actually mentioned it to wyche89 before in a previous thread, but i have no idea how to replace these bulbs or how much work is involved in taking the gauge cluster out! I am still looking forward to fixing this problem. i was even thinking of bringing to my local stealership since i have the extended 100k mile warranty and currently sitting at 98k but not sure if this would be covered under warranty. Keep us posted on any fixes for this problem. Or if anyone (senior members) can post a link on how to replace these gauge bulbs, that would be great!

There are several threads around here telling you how to do it.

But from experiance it is a No-Brianer

Take off the cluster, change the bulbs and put it back together.
7 screws total
3 under the plastic steering wheel cover
2 holding the plastic cover to the dash
3 holding the actual cluster in place

you might have a case to the dealership especially if u have a stick.. you could say that at night you have no way of telling where the RPMS are to shift at the correct point, and you have no idea if your engine is running hot or not cause u cant see your temp gague... thats the approach i would take

I'm auto though! I am hoping it's a simple light bulb fix! I'm not too familiar with taking the cluster out or apart but was going to try to reach some of the local guys to see if they would be willing to either assist or walk me through changing the cluster bulbs! Thanks
