Suspension

My father has a 2001 Maxim GLE with 120k miles...he is looking to change the suspension in his car. He is looking to probobly do coilovers. He wants to stay somewhat close to stock ride but lower the appearance of the car and increase the handeling alittle. Can someone make a suggestion on what to buy, how much, and where to get it from? thanks

I dont think you can achieve stock like ride with coilovers and you are looking at $700-$1500. If you read the Official Suspension sticky, you'll see what most of the members would recommand.

Get Boss Chens. That's probably your bets bet.

springs and struts

pick a spring as far as hieght that you want and then put a set of illuminas with the springs. they are adjustable and save yourself some money on coilovers. just a suggestion.

I've got Tien H-Tech springs paired with Illuminas on my '03 GLE and I'm very happy with the results.
The nice thing about the H-Techs is they don't drop the car too much and the drop is nice and even (no rear end squat).

yes read the stickies. if you want stock like ride, go with springs a strut combo. eibachs and illuminas. its cheaper than coil overs.
